Just twiddling my thumbs, keeping busy.....

Let’s re-Imagine this ring:

8DA6D350-58A5-4790-8CBD-7C10AAB46BF8.jpeg 185D6185-746D-479B-AFA6-6DA3D0DA5545.jpeg 97E4E260-2D40-4813-BFD9-53F93CDAA458.jpeg
Just a slight size difference, and look at that culet on that diamond. And that ruby is mimicking one.
Swoon!

My next project would be, ( and might be) a modernist necklace made with natural, rhodochrosite polished rhomboid crystals and sleek yellow gold. I can imagine crystals like these hanging like a cascading mobile down the neckline. I adore this color combined with the extra gentle glow of these!

Whelp, I really really hoped I’d be able to have a cousin of @natasha-cupcake ‘s gorgeous pad ring, (e/w intrepide with a rose gold faux bezel maybe)
with the stone from Jupiter Gem I pictured earlier in this thread.
Here’s my pics
0243F1E3-B6C5-463E-AB43-38E729919059.jpeg 2D2CC2CD-2069-4F3B-A31E-A567E29CA5CB.jpeg
My phone amps up the color a tiny bit, but really unfortunately that’s not the look most of the time. When it’s like this is pretty seldom (my garage with open overhead door). Even other environments that are still indirect natural light it’s not this nice.
Mostly in other environments the look it takes on makes me think of pale andalusite?
292A747F-E189-40CA-8B01-E7C0D25C674A.jpeg
My pics in other environments totally negate any orange and it looks no color at all, besides the pink.
It’s sad.
I might give it a few days before return, but for this price- probably not.
It’s cut with a really off kilter wonky pavilion and the girdle is wavy. But it’s super clean under 10x. No inclusions I can see. It’s got an AIGS as unheated, but am still wary.

That's disappointing. The first two pictures looked so promising. I say move on quickly and find another one. You can't improve the deficiencies by wishing them away, unfortunately. A pad in the Intrepid will look fantastic. You just need the right one.

Alright, I’m biting and getting this Rhodochrosite. It’s not going to be a mobile like necklace, but rather, one big rectangular prism. I was thinking, there is something archetypal about this shape...good things come in this shape, like chocolate, glycerine soap, sugar cubes, bread loaves, stacks of money, gold bars, and so on. It’s a shape of plenty! It has such a gentle, loving glow too. I’m going to make it into a pendant. I’ve got a few ideas .... but gold or gold and diamonds...hmmm,

I have a weakness for Afghan tourmaline and grabbed this 6.4 x 5.3 pair from The Gem Traders latest drop. If I could, I would buy a big emerald cut diamond and make them in to a three stone ring, but that is just a dream . Any ideas of what you would do with this pair?

This is really cool! It does remind me of glycerine soap. I love it! :kiss2:

Those are gorgeous! I would combine them with another pair of shapes for earrings. You could do a darker blue, a yellow, a lavender, a clear or black, or even pearls! Nice buy:)

Thanks! It does look like a soap, doesn’t it? I saw a rhodo cube, 18k YG pendant while in Colorado this summer, which made me fall in love with these. The color and the softness, combined with that awesome range of shapes really captivated me. The one I saw was just too small, so I passed.
With this one, I’ll have to decide how it hangs, but I I envision a luscious chunk of geometry with the buttery, Soft, silky glow that these have. Actually, Ive never seen anything like their glow. For those who haven’t see one, they are like a mix between cashmere and crystal!. I usually love blues and curves, so it’s a true departure for me. I think it would make an awesome pendant.

I've been thinking of setting a small, round padparadscha in something like this from David Klass:

IMG_20190902_173526.jpg IMG_20190902_173603.jpg IMG_20190902_173504.jpg

That’s a great setting for a pad, especially if you like the light to medium tones- I’d imagine it would help amp the color. I’d be concerned about the completely closed setting - I’d open it up at least for cleaning ability though.
Very pretty!

What a lovely color - great grab!
A honker emerald diamond for a center to these is a classic that you can’t go wrong with - but yeah! A unobtainable dream for many of us!
If lab diamond/mossy isn’t on the table.
I fooled around with some ring layouts made-to-size and wasn’t too excited with what I did- (JbG moval and Parks baguette) but these traps did stand out, and I think they are a great size match! My best guess at sizing that is.

THIS SOLD!
Please Please Please let it be someone here!
And while I’m here - anyone care to chime in on AIGS report reliability for unheated/BE treatment?

I was actually the one who got this... I have her with me right now. She is pretty, but I think I'm going to return her..

Thank you for the ideas @Bluegemz @Rfisher and @JPie ! The mock-ups are great @Rfisher and I can see that I would have to be careful when choosing a center stone if I did a three stone ring. Maybe earrings are the way to go..and since I am dreaming, I would love to have @JPie Jeff White tourmaline ring that she is selling and would make matching earrings with marquise and pear diamond clusters at the top with my pair. :mrgreen2:

True, any suggestions? I think the main things I like about this design are the engravings and the flower basket; gives me slight vintage vibes.

AAHHHHHH yesterday I went to the site because I'd decided I wanted to finally get that only to find it gone - I'm so glad someone on here got it. Please post MANY pictures. I just LOVE this big cube of red!

Make a three stone ring with a pale pink stone in the middle.

That is a great idea! I have a Himalaya Mine light pink tourmaline that could possibly work. It’s a 7.2mm square barion brilliant, so a different cut, but it also has clipped corners like the pair. Once the tourmaline pair arrives, I’ll see how the shapes and colors look together :)).

Hey, thank you!! I’ve been in love with this ever since I saw it. It’s cube ness is fascinating. I promise to post many pics as I figure out too, how to set it.
BTW, Brad at THT has a few more! The ones I posted earlier are in his inventory. The largest is 14 carats and also has a lovely shape for a pendant. Maybe he can get more super large ones?

ooooh, I will email to ask about it. I don't know how fussed I am about size.

My thoughts on setting: the part that holds the stone should maybe be very high carat gold, firstly for the color, secondly for the softness of the metal. I would have a wire frame going all the way around it, with wires either across the corners or around the stone or just like tabs that wrap around the side every so often. Basically like a geometric cage that gently holds it in place. I'd check, though, if high carat gold or platinum is softer. I'd use whatever the softest metal is so there is less risk of damage.

The tourmaline pair from TGT arrived and I love their icy green/blue color! I was just playing around with some of the ideas that were mentioned here with stones I already have.
With my light pink tourmaline like @T L suggested. It’s a brighter pure pink in person:
EEF5A52F-58D3-4C74-A890-53E9A9C2CDBD.jpeg 04D61CF3-D72B-4EAC-B180-0F307CA05917.jpeg
With step cut side diamonds like @Rfisher suggested. This one needs a big diamond in the center :mrgreen2::
35D2F694-508C-4CC5-A84B-D641F1891F99.jpeg
Or maybe spilt the pair up and make two smaller rings, one with step cut sides and another with a halo:
61FFB7F7-CC7E-48D1-AC27-970F0E3D8F8F.jpeg
Or put them all together for massive finger coverage:
