I'd like to re-design my engagement ring. it is a 1.7 carat round diamond, and just on a thin band. I'd like something unique, i've seen some round bezels, but would love to see some other ideas!

is this the current stone you're working with ?

Have you checked out David Klass' Instagram page?

We also have a SMTB - Show Me the Bling forum where folks show off their rings. Should probably
take a good look around there also!

Also, maybe look at CVB designs

unfortunately, yes! haha I've explored recuts, selling and buying something else etc, but at this time, i'm choosing to love as is :) I'm just growing a bit tiered of the setting now!

I don't have instagram so have mostly been looking at pinterest and all i'm coming up with are the bezels. I will try to look on instagram and see if i can snoop their pages!

i wonder if a pair of super ideal "buddies" would bring some sparkle..... make it a 3 stone... it's not unique but it's a Classic Look.....

Could you post some things that you’ve liked, your “must haves” or dislikes… just to get an idea of your taste before we post some inspo pieces?

Do you still want a solitaire, a halo or 3 stone? Are you ok incorporating colour into the design or you’d like to keep it gold/platinum and diamond only? What colour of gold are you leaning towards? What kind of styles do you like - vintage, architectural, floral/nature etc?

This has crossed my mind more than once! I was wondering if getting super ideals would make my middle stone look even worse though haha. Thats when I thought of the recut, because the middle stone would likely go down to about 1.5carats, then adding two more would still give plenty of finger coverage!

it's could work - like how old rockers use back -up singers to fill / help hit the the high notes in concerts...

AI likes the idea...

I really like the look of higher ratio side stones... maybe 1.25 carats on each side, I have no idea how to AI create images of that and they are hard to find, but I think this could potentially be a great idea!

pair of 1.25 ea sides might be too big....
you could check out this thread for sizing ratios

That would be like 88%. Here is one at about 80%

My center stone is the same size as yours (7.7mm), and I went with .46 (4.95mm), so that might help you
gauge what size you want. (see avatar)

remember it's more about face-up size mm than ct. weight....

Okay after stalking that thread, for a 3 stone I would definitely want at around 80%... however, would that look funny with diamonds that aren't OEC or OMC? I note people are calling that an old world look? I really like the finger coverage and that its a bit different than the standard 3 stone!

This is absolutely perfect to me haha but i can't tell if those are round brilliants or and old cut.

Those are all round brilliants...it is a lovely ring!

i see you have posted on the Synth board... I assume you priced 1ct-> 1.25 ACA naturals :) and will be going LGD instead..... might be tough finding LGD color match for an I .... you may want to just build an entire new LGD 3 stone and repurpose the natural 60/60 to a big pendant....

i don't do LGB's but if i did i'd probably avoid mixing them in same piece.... in the future it's going be tough for heirs/grandchildren etc to know whats $$ and what's not...

I think my thought on mixing the LGD and mined is that I will likely tire of this ring in the future as well, and just pop the sides out and put them into earrings!

But I could keep my eyes peeled on the second hand market for something like this

If the recut is only a .2 difference - I say go for it! I like the idea of adding sides for coverage. I have thin fingers and my 3 stone cover almost my entire finger (.3 sides and 1.3 center). I do get some good sparkle from the side stones.

This could be the best of both worlds IMO. You have to decide if you really like a 3 stone and would want to stick with it to keep
the finger coverage.

Hi @anon34985. I went through a similar situation with my original engagement ring. I already have a larger stone ring that was an upgrade from several years ago, and my engagement ring was not getting any wear. So I decided to take the ring and a pair of earrings that was sitting in my draw and went to David Klass to have him make me a three stone. Now I wear it all the time! Stats: center stone 1.77 cts, side stones 0.70 ct each, set in platinum with milgrain. Good luck with what you decide!

wow!! that is gorgeous! I really like those proportions :) Someone on my other thread seemed to have pause about using higher quality cut side stones vs my centre stone. Are yours all similar cut quality?

You could look for 60/60 side stones like your center. They return more bright light than colored light.

Or, you can just say the heck with it, and I want well-cut Tolk side stones.

Anyway, you could get out and compare what Tolk side stones would look like next to your ering?

You can always order one (or two) and compare to see if that makes you happy.

Side stones tend to look slightly different from center stones anyway because they are smaller and they are tilted. I know
you don't want yours too tilted, though.

Lots to think about.

I wanted to bring this question from earlier to your consideration. You've dived deep into the three stones without mentioning if you've considered other options.

They are all the same color (H) but the middle stone is SI1 and the sides are VS1.

Sorry, i mean "cut" wise... my middle stone is a GIA ex, however, it is poorly cut. I am worried about getting really well cut side stones would make my centre stone look bad.

is current stone bright but lacks "super sparkle" and fire ? is it bright edge to edge ?
any photo's of it ?
