Hi Guys, Which diamond you think is better?! The leakage under table facet is bad? Thanks a lot for your opinion!
I recently find two diamonds. Information:
The first one: 1.5C, VS1, G, 3EX, Faint. 62.7%, 57%, 35.5%, 40.8%. HCA 2.7, IS image as below:

The second one: 1.5C, VS2, G, 3EX, None. 60.3%, 59%, 33.5%, 40.8%. HCA 1.3, IS image as below:

We recommend eliminating stones scoring over 2 on HCA for this reason.

What is your budget and specs?

Hi ringo865, thanks for your reply! I uploaded another one, which one you think has better light performance? These two are all around 13.3k.

It's just the backlighting

The second one you posted is a 60/60 style (or at least leaning that way), which is fine as long as you know you like that look. Just as an FYI. there are lots of articles about 60/60 vs "Traditional" ideally cut stones that you can read and learn more about them.

Definitely the 2nd stone you posted is better than the first!

You can do better than these.

These are measurements to help you stay in ideal cut territory with a GIA excellent cut stone.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0 (up to 35.5 crown angle can sometimes work with a 40.6 pav angle)

pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9

Based on your post, the second one. I had one with similar numbers and loved it, I'm still sad that I lost the ring couple years ago. The first stone is too deep at 62.7%.

So sorry for your lose;( Your diamond was really sparkle and shinning? I wondering these real diamonds performances have a big difference?

Definitely the 2nd diamond out of these two choices. Looks like a decent 60/60. But for $13,380, I think you can do better.

Here's an F/VS2 which is darn-near perfectly cut for only about $1k more. If the 1.5 carat mark isn't that important to you, I would go for this one:

Also an awesome diamond. 1.51 E/VS2 for $400 more than your original stone. Better cut... And it's an E!!! :)

Thanks. It was bright, spready, and had fat arrows at 75% lower girdle facet that I loved the most.

Comparison between traditional and 60/60 style ideal cuts :

60/60 stone in the video has different pavilion angle, but both 40,8 and 41.2 are ideal on AGS proportional chart for 59 table.

I feel like this video is a really helpful way of understanding 60/60 vs "traditional" ideal cut proportions. But important to note that these are not only both GIA XXX but also AGS 000, whereas I think there are some 60/60 stones that would get GIA XXX but not be quite ideal enough to get 000. Thanks for posting it!

Thank you sooo much! This video is really helpful;) I like the 60/60 diamonds!
