Is there a range to stay within? I know why it''s bad to have it on the high side: it faces up small. But what''s the harm in having it on teh low side?

Thanks.

If you're looking at classic asschers the best range to stay in for depth is 65-70%. For modern interpretations 60-65% depth.

As kaleigh pointed out it varies by the cutting style.
Asschers are impossible to evaluate without pictures or seeing it in person.
A sarin is nice to have also to get the crown height but pictures taken from the side can get close.

The table size is more critical than depth because with proper cutting a shallower asscher or more properly a square emerald can still be great but a large tabled asscher is almost always yucky unless you like that specific look.
I look for tables in the high 50% to very low 60% range.
