Ok, can't quote the picture for some reason, but I love the emerald cut in the sapphire halo.

I wanted to share this ring I saw online, made by a local jeweler. I have two dogs, who are my babies, and I just love this idea. The jeweler said they could make it as one ring (instead of engagement and wedding). Don't know if I'd ever get it, but thought it was an adorable idea.

I was going to suggest a target ring, but I see someone beat me to it! I think you can go with whatever size diamond in those, and it doesn't necessarily read engagement/wedding at all.

I also think a lot of the bulkier antique settings would be great, something along these lines, either with the CS or without.
