I NEED HELP!!

Hello! I have been handed down a ring from my grandmother. The ring has a 1.12 carat diamond that I will be using,a .07 carat diamond, and about 25 little .01 diamonds. I am thinking of proposing within the next couple months and am trying to figure out the best style to use. I am torn between a three-stone with the 1.12 carat obviously being the center and then two .07 diamonds on the sides, completing the three stone look OR a solitaire with little diamonds going down the band and the 1.12 carat diamond on top.

Does anyone have any opinions on this?! Her ring size is about an 8 or so. Thanks and any help you have is appreciated!!!!!!!!

That's the thing...she hasn't really expressed an opinion of what she likes or doesn't like so that's why I'm torn on what to do

I advise you to propose with the ring as it is (or if it is out of the setting just have it set in a temporary solitaire) and tell her that you two will go shopping to buy a new setting. It is rarely worthwhile to remove and reuse 1 point stones. And .07 is really not large enough to make a 3 stone ring...it would just be a stone in the band. You'll do better looking at settings such as Beverley K or Simon G if she wants an antique style setting. And there are millions of others if she wants something else. Keep the antique setting as it is and you can get an inexpensive colored stone to replace the center diamond.

I'd also suggest keeping it the way it is. You can always change it later. I'm wondering too how important it is to your family that it stay the way it is...

.07 sides is a little bit small for a 3 stone kind of look, I'd think. at least .1s or .15s. If you like .07s on the sides I would probably make a half band of .07 if you want a blingy substantial look.

The family ring is already set as a half-halo type ring. It is definitely an older look and I plan on re-doing the look with whatever option I choose. That being said, I don't think my family really cares how much I change the look of it because I will be using the diamonds if that makes sense

It's impossible for strangers to predict your GF's taste, so I'd second the recommendation to seek her input, as it's something she'll have to wear every day and should love.

I assume you really do mean .07 sides and not .7, and if so I agree they'd be small for side stones. If they were .7's, you could make a solitaire E-ring with the large stone and a pair of earrings as a wedding gift with the .7's, or save them for an anniversary upgrade to a 3 stone in the future.

I triple the thought of her input. She has to wear it forever and if she doesn't care for what you select she would never hurt your feelings. so I also vote for either asking a friend of hers or her mom for her taste or proposing with it as is and shopping for setting together
