I need some female opinions on this ring. Is the setting too much?
Specs on the ring are:
1.75 ct center stone
3.14 ct total

Sorry, this ring looks too chunky and masculine to me. I prefer the band to be 1/2 to 1/3 the width. This way, the center stone will appear bigger and get all the attention. Another problem I have with the style is that the sidestone diamonds, being various shapes, do not seem to go harmoniously.

If I want extra bling (more diamonds), I shall have diamonds all the way aroung the band, and pair the e-ring with a diamond eternity band.

Hi Joe,

I agree with Fancy. The band looks too thick, which makes it look not feminine. Also, the sidestones (the baguettes) don''t go too well with the round center stone. I would take out the baguettes and just have a 2mm thick band of smaller round diamonds on the band of the ring instead. Then the center diamond will really pop out.

Hope this helps!

I suspect this is a setting that would look somewhat more delicate in person. That being said, I''m not a huge fan of the mix of baguettes *and* round side stones. I''d like either one or the other, or a more Art Deco look if they are to be mixed.

If the ring is a right hand ring, it's fine - the more bling the better!

As an engagement - not so much, unless she picked it out herself. If you're looking for an engagement ring, the center stone is usualy the focal point of the ring style.

How old is the woman it's for? The younger the woman, typicaly the more delicate the ring.

How about something like this Tacori 2639RDP65 ? Blingy, but delicate.

Does she prefer simple styles or fancier styles? What is her favorite diamond shape?

Your choice is a little too busy for my taste. I much prefer the one HopeDream pointed out.

If you like trapezoids, what about something in the Harry Winston style? (many vendors make solitares flanked by trapeziods)

Depending on the woman, don't forget to save finger space for a wedding band (which could also be covered in diamonds).

Too busy for me. I concur with the ladies above, in that I think a younger woman would prefer something a bit more delicate. It''s a nice ring, but I just don''t see it as an engagement ring-it''s more along the lines of a cocktail ring to me.

Ditto. It''s too much for an e-ring (for my taste).

Chicagojoe, what do you actually like about this ring? Do you like the pave sides? The baguette sides? The whole blingy look?

Most women will be more attracted to something a bit more delicate, also keeping in mind that many women want to have the option to wear a wedding band along with the engagement ring. That setting looks to be about 5-6mm, plus a 2-4mm wedding band - that''s a LOT of width and won''t look very delicate on a smaller/shorter finger. What about a thin pave setting or the classic baguette setting?

Ditto. My mom would like it? How old is your lady? This look was rather popular in the 1980s, but less so right now. You have been asked some great questions about your lady''s style. Let us know more about what she wants for her engagement ring and we can help you more.

A little too hefty for my taste. I prefer settings that are more dainty and delicate #1 - it suits my body type (5'2", 100lbs) and #2 - it allows for the center stone to really POP. Her finger size is something to keep in mind as well. Mine is a 4.5 so something too chunky would overwhem my petite sized finger.

It''s a little too masculine imho, but that''s just me.

well, if you want the truth, it''s pretty dated looking. reminiscent of the 80s. too much going on.

Hmm Good evening!
Well not my style, dang I am a huge fan of radiant and cushions, not baguettes and the ring shape seems very chunky so squared, we women most of us like fluid designs.... for me is not an option.
I found a ring from ArtCarved that was a collection with few pieces.
Hope this give you a perspective, considering your ring is an ER there will be a wedding band both will be too much.

Good luck!

Have a nice weekend

Monica

I have a decent sized ring finger(I can wear 7.5 - 8+) but even I would have an issue with how busy it looks.

If the bagettes were not in the middle, then yes it would be a ring I would wear. But the ultimate decision is what you like and what you know her likes are. If you haven't already, maybe you should take her somewhere to try rings on to see what she gravitates to.

I have found that rings with that much stone presence takes away from the center stone. I thought I wanted the-as much bling as I can get look- until I tried it on, everything became a blur. I still like
a little wider band look, but haven''t found one that does not take away from the beauty of the center stone. You have a nice size center stone if you just take it down a small bit, you should be fine.

It''s too heavy for my tastes. The center stone just seems lost.

Its a bit like my own engagement ring except that mine has the small round diamonds kind of on the side of the swoopy channel set baguettes. I think it makes the ring more feminine and flatters the center stone more. Sadly I can''t link you to a place to get it exactly (if you like it even) because I had the center head part custom made. Its a hybrid of two settings I guess.

Seems like I''ve seen something close lately though ... somewhere. Knox maybe? Good luck!

umm, not my taste, but how bout something like this, if you want to incorporate both baguettes and rounds? this is a little less wide

I've never seen your thread on it since I wasn't around back then but it looks stunning on your hand!

This is a Sasha Primak ring from Pearlman''s .. no side round diamonds though ... but the channel of baguettes is more tapered & swoopy.

OT Thread jack: Camille, tell us about the ring in your avatar! Yum!

Chicago, I think if you like it/and got it, FLAUNT IT! That ring is beautiful, and with a bigger center diamond, it would look great!!! It''s really up to you, and it''s something you''ll have to wear till your next one

but I think it''s pretty. I LOVE glitter, and if you do too, then that setting is great!

I have to agree with the ladies. You have a huge center stone but sine your band is so thick with too many conflicting diamond shapes, it gets lost. But than again, it''s all personal taste. If you love the ring, that''s all that matters.

Not my personal style, I do think it looks dated. But ultimately it doesn''t matter what anyone else thinks, the important thing is that the person who is wearing it loves it. That''s why there are so many different styles out there. I''m sure there is someone out there who would think that''s the most beautiful setting they have ever seen.

I think it takes away from the size of the center stone... plus, I would rather spend the extra money from that setting on a bigger stone ;)

I''m sorry to say the ring is too much for me. I''d prefer something more simple.
