FPP,
In hindsight, I see that I may have unintentionally insinuated something unkind in my post. My apologies as I didn't mean it that way.

Oh, no, I definitely didn't feel that you were insinuating anything. No worries.

Anyway - I was worried over nothing, because DHL just delivered mine. I'll attempt to make a thread after I attempt some very poor photography.

OH You picked the PEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :appl:
PLEASE I have to SEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's here! I picked it up from FedEx before coming to work. So bear with the bad photos from my phone. They are really not indicitative of it's beauty. I'll take more photos as soon as I can. It has a great mixture of pink and red with TONS of flourescence.

This is a photo of Crepe Myrtles that I shot just last week. Such a gorgeous pink, really a tad darker than the photo IRL.
I have been using the Crepe Myrtles as a reference in finding a Spinel.

If the colour is like the flowers, then it's great. I understand that it's not always easy to photograph gems. What do you think of it? Had any chance to check it out under different lighting yet? Seems like it's much better than all the spinels you've seen lately.

The color is very close to the flowers, although darker. It shifts in different lighting. It's pink tones outdoors, shifts to red indoors. It's definetly the best of everything that I have looked at thus far.

I love the shape of the pear and it's a beauty! :appl:

To me it looks really beautiful. Glad you got a winner bright ice!

It's gorgeous, that's a great enviable size!

It's beautiful, and it has a lot of presence due to the color and size. It looks like a keeper!

I'm delighted that Eric came through for you, and you are happy with a stone. After all those returns, better late than never. :appl:

A few more phone shots

I see why all of Eric's shots of mine have it on it's side. LOL

It's basically a smaller version of OooShiney's, and I know my poor little point-and-shoot isn't going to do it half-justice, so I've been procrastinating. I'll try this afternoon . . . so I'm not a disgrace to the PS community. Ha!

Holy crap that's gorgeous!!!!!!!!

I'm so glad you have a stone you love, Bright Ice!

Wow, I can only imagine the impact that has in person. Congrats!

Bright Ice the color is amazing! I love it! Looks like a candy to eat, which is the best in a colored stone to my eye.

Beautiful color, and a good size as well!

YES YES YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everything about it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need to see MORE MORE MORE !!!!!!!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

and firey ~ yours too !!!!!!!!
I am so happy !!!!
if it is just like Marilyn then I KNOW it is gorgeous !!!!!

OK, the spinel is a keeper for sure. I can't believe it's beauty, it's just STUNNING in every way. My next concern is whether or not I should spend the funds to have it certed by AGL or put those funds toward the setting. Opinions please. When I get some good photos I will start a new thread for setting suggestions.

It's a gorgeous stone! I'm glad the big spinel search came to a really satisfying conclusion.

Oh WOW I love it!   What an absolutely beautiful stone! Glad you found what you were looking for :appl:

My vote is put the money towards the setting but that's just my opinion...

Re: certifying. There is no real treatment for spinel, so I don't think you have to worry on that front. The only thing I think you'd gain by certifying is the origin: defining it as an actual Mahenge. I don't know if AGS does origin reports. Mine just has an AIGS with picture.

My vote's for more money towards the setting, too.

I just looked up certs. Only GIA will do a cert with origin on a colored stone. Analytical Report: $170

So should I spend 300-420 to get the AGL certification? I am happy with the stone and am satisfied that it is a Mehenge.

I think it is unnecessary unless you deem it becoming important in the future.
