What is your priority, getting the largest diamond you can or very high colour and clarity - something in between? If you go for an emerald cut then often higher clarity is needed such as VS or above as these shapes can show inclusions more easily than rounds.

Swoon!!! I would get a 3 carat ring in some kind of Tacori setting. seems like you like the Tacoris as well...you have plenty to choose from with that budget!
Depends on your priorities, do you wnat to list them?

HI:

I would also look at the faceting arrangements of radiants--they come in different "looks" as well as proportions.....

BTW you might want to take a look at the radiant threads and asscher/square stone threads recently created/reviived on this SMTR forum....

Three stone like gummi bear''s or solitaire in a Tacori like emeraldlovers! I''d get the biggest, best cut emerald cut I could find!

I will get the 3 stones ring, 1 carat of emerald cut each side with a 2ct emerald cut in the middle

I would get a really nice 2-2.5ct emerald solitaire!

Geesh! You are one lucky lady! With all the great input from PS, you are going to have a magnificant ring!

Lucky girl!! I love the idea of an EC with baguette side stones!

With a budget like that I can see why it''s hard to make a decision..
Should I get a rare fancy pink diamond or feed a small nation of hungry children? Tough call...

Lucky girl to have such a budget! I had a pretty big budget also - but was torn about what I wanted.

What I did was went and bought myself the diamond that I wanted - well my husband bought it but I chose it. Then I tried on every different ring in every jewelry store I could find to see what I thought looked good on my hand and what I really wanted. I actually made a trip out of town to go into Tiffany''s to see their settings!! I got the idea of what I wanted and then searched for a designer. Since I spent so much time thinking about it then it was easy working with the designer because I could tell her what I wanted and she made it come true.

I have never loved anything more than having a one of a kind made especially for me - no molds, no seconds - my ring is mine.

I chose Maytal Hannah and she was ABSOLUTELY wonderful to work with. Clear about every step and wonderfully communicative. I chose her after speaking to a number of people because I felt like we connected. I thought that was important. When my ring was delivered both of us were giddy - me because I was happy and I am sure she because she gave me such a wonderful gift.

You can see my ring by searching me - cookiesmom - it isn''t what you are looking for but I would highly recommend the route of a spectacular designer that will make you the ring that you want where the attention to every detail is met.

Every time I look at my ring I smile. I hope this was helpful.

I''d do an emerald-cut three stone, too -- with trap or baguette sides. Beautiful and major finger coverage!

Woohoo for this project -- keep us up to date!

I vote for an emerald cut with traps or tapered baguettes!

Lucky indeed! Have you considered a marquise cut to elongate your hand? Here are two from Leon Mege:

Get a colored diamond!
Ohhh, that would be my vote too!

I`d get emerald 3-stone, as well.

Harry Winston micropave, with as low of stats as they would sell/ biggest center stone.

I'd start by leaving the checkbook at home and visting several reputable high end jewelers in the area and seeing what you like in terms of settings and styles and your color tolerances. Then I would make a list ranking these in the order of importance of you: pedigree (branded or not), size, color, clarity. And what you are willing to sacrifice, if anything, for what you want. I would also decide what is appropriate for your lifestyle.

If you did a post asking each of us what we'd buy for the budget if we liked elongated stones, you'd probably get dozens of answers, none of which matter... except they woud provide you with inspiration. Becaues ultimately it's your ring. Not ours.

First let's start with the basics that matter to you. The two you listed are elongated rectangular shapes. Do you like elongated shapes period... ovals, marquise, etc. Or is it just elongated rectangular shapes? And have you seen rectangular cushions-- do you prefer 'shattered ice' cushions like radiants or chunky facet 'antique style' cushions? How about elongated proprietary cuts such as rectangular Lucidas, Tycoon Cuts, Chriscut Emeralds, etc? If I had your budget the first thing I do is look at all of these.

As for what I'd personally end up with if I liked elongated rectangular shapes... I'd probably end up with with an the brightest most amazing 'generic' Emerald Cut I could find, F VS1 in a Leon Mage platinum setting three stone setting with two tapered settings on either side of the center. Slight knife edge to the shank. But like I said... that's completely irrelevant. It's what I would want, not what you might want.

Danny's got a fabulous idea too. Those HW micro pave's are amazing. But they aren't good for my lifestyle and wear habits. Doesn't mean I wouldn't be tempted though. But that's the point, you got some sleuthing to do.

Oh yeah, I did want to add that I would research any cut I'm wanting, as fancy's are particular creatures. Radiants can trap color, so I would stick to higher colored stones personally, and step cuts (like Emerald cuts) show color easily so many people stick to higher colors with them. Some cushions are better than both, IMO, at hiding color (so you can eek out some size). Radiants (and cushions) hide inclusions much better than step cuts however so you can drop in clarity with them more easily than step cuts (especially in larger sizes). I'd still be likely to go with an Emerald Cut personally, but... I would look pretty closely at cushions (not personally the crushed ice ones though) too. And even with a Cushion center, I'd go for a three stone, most likely. Just better suited for my lifestyle. Plus I like the finger coverage.

Ooh. I forgot to mention that if I truly liked radiants, I'd be FAR more likely to get a fancy yellow one than a white one. I love yellow diamonds.
