I had an I diamond appraised today, and was told that it was a K.

(Seriously, you can get a stunner like that and not give us at least one hand shot for perspective!)

LOL! Anxious??

Harriet, take one like this, or similar. We at least need to see the ring to finger ratio.

For the time being, are there any pictures of similar-sized stones and similar-sized fingers (5.5)?

(Umm, I have similar size fingers (5.5) but my little rock is half the size of yours! Lol! So it will be fun for me to see how a 3 ct.+ stone would look on my size finger! Dee Jay has a three carat stone and there may be some photos of it as a solitaire before getting reset...I''ll have to look.)

It is gorgeous

, Harriet, and I can''t WAIT to see more pictures! (Post a new thread in Show Me the Ring when you do.)

Here''s a picture of Dee Jay''s 3.37 ct. diamond in an old setting while she was deciding on a new setting:

A word of advice. Don''t assess the color indoors. Most lighting tends to make diamonds have a yellowish tint, as can cream walls, wallpaper, etc. Look at it outside in natural light.

Geez Harriet, I''m thinking of all the places MY ring goes nuts (resturant lighting is almost always flattering, grocery stores with high ceiling fluorescent lighting, spot lighting, etc.) and then I imagine YOURS, and I just get this huge grin on my face. Yer gonna love it!

Excellent points, Ellen! That''s true that most incandescent light has a yellowish cast. So do go outside in natural light to assess color.

I am in NY and would love to slobber all over your ring!
However your ring will look icy white next to my M transitional brilliant!

If the pictures are in My Pictures, right click on the picture and click Edit. Then go click on stretch/skew and put in 15% for both vertical and horizontal. That should get them to a better size. Then save, rename the photos to a unique file name and try to post again.

I met with Brian yesterday at WF to look at some possible e-ring stones. Being a novice to the whole diamond buying experience, Brian was extremely helpful and professional in giving me all the information I needed to make a decision. Having an engineering background in optics, I already understood the concepts to what makes a perfect diamond. What I needed from my appointment, and what I received, was to see what substantiates the different grades in typical lighting and viewing circumstances.

Brian offered to show me the ring that was causing a stir on Pricescope. I hadn''t seen the thread before, so didn''t know exactly what he was talking about.

First, this diamond is huge. I was looking at stones around 1.2ct and Harriet''s made them look tiny. The stones I was looking at ranged from F to H color. I compared Harriet''s to a round 1.22ct G expert selection and could not tell any difference in color. Again, I''m a novice, so take it with a grain of salt. (I am 27 years young and have perfect vision, no glasses or contacts.)

I''ll write up another post when I make my final decision on the e-ring.
