I wonder if he could do this in East West.
Off center is interesting.

I'd use rose gold strip but no grove cut into it.
This is what I mean about a ring that is not taller next to the stone.
I like that continuous look.
It is not so much like a pedestal, just low profile.

I think the more squarish edges of this ring compliment the emerald cut better than the three more rounded rings that are posted next.
What do you say?

I'll try to post a larger image.
You can hardly see this one.

I just don't want the setting to overpower the small stone.
At the same time if it is too thin and dainty it will look weird on a man.
This will be a balancing act and I may take my time.
I really wanted a red or purple diamond but those colors are even more costly and this is the closest I could come in a size you can still see.
Shopping for colored diamonds takes a lot of patience and compromise.

I may also approach Leon Mege for something unique but I think he wants a firm design presented.
This would be an unusual project since the stone is so small and it is for a man.
I'd want protection but lots of exposure and light.

For a man’s ring, I like the squarish one on the previous page with the off center stone. It adds interest while retaining the masculine look.

Moh-I really love the squared off band with the stone offset, that would look fabu with your EC!!! But are you actually thinking of setting it in Titanium??? I'd suggest Platinum and 18kt RG, if you like the look of it. To me if you spend thousands on a stone it should be showcased :)

Here is a pic of a man's band with a pink radiant(I hope you don't mind Alex-I think it's super classy), the pink radiant is .21ct(3.3x3.2mm) bezeled in RG and I believe the rest of the band is Plat.

May I just interrupt the story-telling and doo-deing for a moment (or two) and add some advice

First of all I'd like to congratulate you on your courage to have this one set in a tension setting, since I'd probably lose my mind during the setting process for fear of something happening to the stone as valuable as this one.

Next, the ideas. Sure, it's not easy to keep the stone a center stage, while keeping the design simple and not overpowering. One thing you can do is have some design elements on the shank like grooves, inlays, carvings (OK, that's hard to do on titanium but anyway) anything that will break the surface visually and make it's impact on the whole piece lessened. It can also work with side stones, maybe some little asschers, tapered baguettes or something. But I'd keep this as simple and as classic as possible, since the stone is a real beauty and a real rarity. Also, keep in mind that with an EC it's best to make a shank's profile flat instead of rounded as it will accentuate the stone's shape better.

Hope this helps.

Here''s a close up of the inclusion plots.
What is the difference between a natural and an indented natural?

I haven''t looked at the diamond yet.
Really.

I''m one of those people on Christmas morning who opens the box and goes to sit down to read the owners manual before taking the new gizmo out of the box.

Don''t you hate those people?

Copied from a post of Dave Atlas'' for you

"A natural is original surface material of the rough diamond that was never polished away in cutting. If it does not indent, it means the cutter just left a part of the original skin of the stone on the surface plane of the surrounding facets. Generally, a tiny extra facet could be placed there if one wished to do it. It would add or subtract nothing with that diamond. The weight would probalby not change more than a fraction of 1/100 of a carat.

An idented natural would be where the skin of the original diamond had a dip in it that is NOT on the plane of the surrounding facets. Removing such a blemish would require a bit more grinding and polishing. There would be somewhat more weight loss. The shape or surrounding facets would have to be altered. This can be minor or more major. We are not talking specifics here. An indented natural is generally a little valley and might be confused by someone as a chipped stone.

You can find naturals and indented naturals on diamond pavilions and crowns, never on the table. Usually they are at or on, or in the girlde, but not every time. Size, location and visibility determine how they are handled and graded. Most well cut diamonds have no naturals or only tiny ones. Most well cut diamonds would only have an indented natural in the width of the girdle, not denting the stone''s outline."

It's purdy!!!

Small, but purdy.

Has anyone ever mentioned how hard it is to get a good pic of a diamond?

OK, I''m dying over here. I''m going to put myself out of my misery and just come back tonight for a look at the EC. I think Moh must be drowning in coffee and forgot all about us.
