My first colored gem so I thought I'd also post it here to share with the folks who hang out only in the colored gem forum.
I've been looking for a long time and finally pulled the trigger on this little baby girl from the Argyle mine in northwest Australia.
The stork will deliver her tomorrow.

Opps that report image is too small. I wish attached pics showed up in the preview screen.

Let's try again.

That''s a lovely cut and color!

East west bezel pendant in rose gold!

If anyone is interested here is info about the Argyle pinks:

Here''s a link about the Argyle mine, my little girl''s birthplace:

. . . and one more vendor pic:

Very pretty! I don''t think that size is too small for a pink diamond. The only one I could afford is in my nose ring, now that''s tiny! Can hardly wait to see more pics.

WOW..great color. I bet that set you back a pretty penny. What is it, only like 70 a year or so are brought out of argyle. Congrats on the new acqusition. I am impressed!

Your first coloured gem? WOW way to go! You don't do things by halves! I love it even more in this thread!!! I can't wait to see what you do with this wonderful baby.

(BTW realised who the vendor is now)!

.27 points for that color is not too small. Amazing stone, absolutely fabulous. Please post more pictures when you get it.

BTW, most of the Argyle "Pink Tender," which consists of the highest rated pink stones to come out of the mine each year, are typically less than a carat. Fine pinks are very very rare in large sizes. Even J.Lo's famed pink diamond was a pale pink, albeit it was large.

I'm glad you got a GIA cert as well. That is very important for the value of the stone.

Really beautiful purchase-I am super excited that you found a stone that speaks to you! You''ll love it even more in person, that vendor takes nice representative photos :) How are you planning on setting it?

I think a double bezel would be nice-the inside in rose gold and the outside bezel in platinum, set E-W with a platinum shank.

Wow! What a lovely strong pink. I think it''ll look great bezeled.

What a stunning pink! I can''t wait for pics!

This is a poor pic of the double bezel idea-the RG bezel is .5mm and the Plat bezel is .5mm in thickness :)

I''m not sure if you want a gent''s or ladies ring, but I would recommend the work of Steven Kretchmer for some design ideas.

East west bezel pendant in rose gold!
Deco, normally I''m with ya on nearly everything you say, but on this one, NO WAY.

That baby needs to go on the finger where one could sit and stare at it. It''s gorgeous!!!

I love that diamond. What a gorgeous pink color. I agree, it HAS to go on your finger, where you can sit and stare at it. I know I would.

Wow that is one beautiful stone, I agree that should go on the finger to drool over every day

Oh my gosh - that''s awesome!!!!

I like the idea of a tension ring setting, if it is doable.

I like the idea of the bezel set East to West.

I did a little moch up for you of a particular setting I like.

It is bezel set with Milgrain Work in 18 karat Gold.

Simple and elegant and showcases your stone.

Very Beautiful Diamond by the way...Im Jealous!

Love it!!!!!

Ahhhh....Josh, that's lovely. 4 x 3 mm is fairly small though so it'll look like one of those Etsy stacking bezels in terms of proportions.

Yeah Chrono,

Its an idea though...You have to work with what you have. I like the tension set Idea also..

Your talking about gaining 1mm for up and down positioning.

Show me some of your ideas of tension mounts Chrono?

Do you know the measurement of the original stone in that picture?

I figure that since tension mountings tend to hold smaller stones, it''ll be a good fit. I''ll have to browse the Gelin & Abaci website.
http://www.gelinabaci.com/

Actually East West in a tension setting is very very likely.
I like being able to see more of the stone.

I am familiar and comfortable with tension settings.

Since her narrow side is 3 mm I think the East West ring's width should be about 4 or 4.5 mm - wide enough to offer protection but not so wide to dwarf the stone.

Bruce Boone says he can put a platinum or gold or rose gold strip into just about any titanium tension setting.
I know rose gold is frequently used with pink diamonds but I'm not sure I want the whole ring to be that color.
I don't know if Gelin Abaci can put strips of other colored metal in.

The setting must be very simple and hardly there.
AFAIC it is all about the stone.

That is a bright little pink!!

I vote for the double bezel option

This will be for a man.
This ring would let a lot of light in, reveal more of the diamond, yet still offer good protection.

The ring would not need to be so tall near the stone since the stone is only 2.5 mm deep.
I prefer a ring that has more of a similar thickness all the way around.

I'd also place rose gold in the side channels, and make them not taper to become thiner away from the stone but remain the same width all the way from where they touch the stone down to where they merge into the side of the ring.
