Hi All,

After the advises from PS, I contacted IDJ and they helped me and my boyfriend to find this diamond. I asked for ASET and IS images but I am not quite sure how to evaluate it. The only thing I worried about is that its a K color diamond. My limited budget (about 1.5 carat e-ring with setting under $7,000) I think its really hard to find a J or above 1.5 ct PS Quality diamond with or 7,000. So it is what they sent to me. 1.4 Carat, VS2, Color K. I am very worried about buying a K color diamond as I don't really like diamond with tint. But IDJ assured me that this diamond looks white. Please let me know what do you guys think!

As far as ASETs/IS images go, these are excellent - it really is a beautiful stone!! As for color, only you will know if the K color is white enough for you. Unfortunately it comes down to not being able to have it all....in order to stick to budget and size, you'll need to drop in color or clarity. Sticking to budget and getting a higher color, you'll need to go smaller or drop in clarity....etc.

Maybe you could ask them to find you a J SI1 or SI2? For example, with a $100 referral coupon and a PS discount, plus one of their plain settings, these could also work for you:

Thanks AC117 for you prompt response,

They just sent me the picture of the diamond.

It looks pretty white to me in the picture but I am not sure if It is as white in person.

What do you think?

It's gorgeous! But you can't tell color from a photo and everyone's tolerance is different. I will tell you that I saw PintoBean's 1ct each K color studs from IDJ and they were very white! Fortunately, IDJ's return policy is great and I'm sure they'd find you something different if you weren't 100% happy.

I think this stone from IDJ looks really nice! That said, if you don't like diamonds with tint you may need to be looking at an H-I color or even higher. I'm really color sensitive and just got an I, but I expected some tint going in. If you are expecting "white" white from a K, I can see you being disappointed. I didn't see your original thread-did you see different colors in person to assess the lowest you can go? Ideal cut will obviously help mask some tint, but it will not make it disappear.

Ac117 makes a good suggestion in maybe lowering clarity a bit to pick up the color. You could probably go a hair under 1.5 also and see little difference in size.

Thanks ac117, I did asked them if they can go lower for the clarity and might be a bit of the carat. But maybe the inventory they have at the moment have no SI eye clean stones that are around I-J color, so they have been offering VS stone. It is a tough call.. not sure what to do.

I like the stone and I would chance it and see how it looks in person. I could see tint in my I stone, but once it was set it looks white. So it may look less tinted once set.

I'm not one for warmer colors, but I would personally try that one out.

Thanks Siamese Kitty, I have been looking online for diamonds for half year but honestly have not been going to the store and comparing different colors in person. I am not sure if I am color sensitive but I definitely want a white diamond. And they might not have SI eye clean stones that are around I-J, so they have been offering VS stone even I suggested to go lower for the clarity.

Thanks Whitewave. I remember you showed me your I-color and E-color diamond! that was impressive! I would probably go for it and see if I am okay with the tint.

Try it and see. You might want the "idea" of white but with no comparators, you might not notice a tint in this one - or it may not bother you. How will you set it?

I want to set it with classic 6 prong in platinum or 18K even thought it might make the diamond looks less white because of the contrast. People suggest that yellow gold setting is the best setting to go with color k diamond. But I really want white gold / platinum. :(

It will not make the diamond look less white. One of my Ks is in a Yelow gold setting but the head is still white gold.

Yekutiel has a good eye. Give the K a shot. If you find yourself too color sensitive, exchange it for a J or I.

Hi PintoBean! I heard Ac117 that you have an K color diamond that is pretty white!! haha So jealous! Yekutiel did not pick this diamond out for us but Lana did. I asked Yekutiel for opinion and he said "it is a nice diamond." And that was it...

My Ks with varying levels of Fluor. I'd have to check old threads to figure it out lololol. Top down white. Any body color will most likely be hidden in a 6 prong setting.

All my lights are either with soft white bulbs or have soft white cuppy thingies the names of which escape me now, which makes everything warmer.

WOW you own so many K-color diamonds!!! They all look pretty white to me. Hopefully mine will look white even without any fluor

Hi Ac117,

I haven't received the diamond yet but I was a bit concerned about the color and wanted a little bigger diamond so I looked at the diamonds you found for me... They are so gorgeous. I am very interested in the 3071055 one so I went ahead and request an IS (they don't do ASET for RB). Here it is.

This diamond is J color and with Strong fluor so I am hoping it will look whiter than normal J. Compare with the diamond from idj, can you tell the JA one is less brilliant by looking at the IS image? I feel like the JA one has less red coloration? Do I need an ASET to decide which one is better? Do you mind telling me your thoughts? Thanks a lot!

If this diamond is in the US ask IDJ to call it in and take a look.

Trade members here have said that the less red/pink areas in an IS is a result of strong backlighting and shouldn’t be perceivable to the eye so I wouldn’t be super concerned about that in the JA stone. However, these 2 will perform differently from each other. I love IDJ’s selection bc of the super tiny table and the fatter arrows so the stone should be fiery with chunkier flashes of light. The JA stone has SBF (which I love), the table is still small but not as small as the IDJ stone, and the lower halves are closer to 80 so the arrows are skinnier and will produce more pinpoint flashes. It’s a tough choice and people will vary in their preference….are you able to buy the JA stone and compare it in person to the IDJ one? This would really be your best option….

Do they have an IS on file for the 3051035?

Thank you both for replying. I reached out to Yekutiel said this diamond will be cloudy and has cavity so he advises me to stay away from it...
But JA said it is eye clean and not cloudiness though...:(
And just curious, why have a small table is an advantage? I thought it would make the diamond looks smaller.

What about the 1.5?

Hi Ac117, the 1.5 one is in oversea... so its not in the US :( the process of picking a perfect stone is so stressful....

The table size have nothing to do with the diamond looking smaller. What does matter is the diameter of the stone.

Oh I see....interesting I have been misunderstanding that the larger the table size the larger the diamond looks....

Hi Dancing fire,

I remember you have found a perfect stone for your friend... do you have any suggestions of diamonds? I ordered one from idj (not come yet) but it is a color K stone with no fluor.. I am worried that it would be look too warm for my liking....

Only you can decide on the color. I prefer a well cut mid range color of G/H VS/SI1 eye clean stone. If you are OK with K color then go for it!

Since that diamond is not in US idj will not be able to pull it in and JA doesn't provide IS image for that stone..

Yes but you could order it from JA with free 30 day returns and ask them to take the IS once they get it from overseas....or just get it and compare both stones.
