Hurricane Irma - SE Florida, Carribean Islands, Carolinas, _possible Gulf Coast US

@Arcadian I'm glad you are hanging in there and safe. I'm watching CNN now and they are talking to a woman on the phone who is a first responder. She is home with family. I'll talk about anything you want to talk about if you want to get on Pricescope for a distraction. Please just let me know if I can do anything to help you.

Great news about getting your your sweet furbaby out to pee.

Keeping everyone in the path of this hurricane in my thoughts and sending lots of good wishes that everyone stays safe.

During another break in the storm we went around the block for a poo. OMG I'm so damn happy! Now of course I usually pick up the poos...not today:hand:.

Lot of neighbors took advantage of the break to get their pets out so I was in good company:mrgreen2:

So far we still have electric and I hope that continues. On the east side of Irma, we're getting cat 1-2 type weather at the height of the storm...if it stays west. a more inland wobble and it will go higher.

rain though is constant as is the threat of tornadoes.

11PM bulliten isn't out yet but so far its now in key west. South of me there's flooding and people are without power. In my neighborhood I saw 2 electric trucks because they have to keep Military Trail clear for first responders.

Heres the local station I'm watching at the moment http://cbs12.com/ I need to watch locally just because of the tornadoes.

Predicting to come on land at Marco Island.

Will be due west of us between 3 and 8pm intercoastal has white caps in my area.

Congratulations on the outdoors poo, Arcadian. No trained dog wants to do that inside. It makes him feel bad! Now good luck with the tornadoes!

Keeping all of you in the path in my prayers! @Arcadian , @tyty333 , @iLander , @Jambalaya and everyone else please stay safe!

Also be careful about using pricescope as a distraction. I ended up with a new project with cvb during the flood, lol! :)

Prefectly said CEG. Stay safe everyone

@Arcadian a new piece of jewelry sounds like the perfect distraction to me. We could name the thread the "Irma Collection".

@ceg your new piece could go in the "Harvey Collection" thread.

Haha! I already told Caysie that I was naming the ring Harvey! A huge turquoise cab in a halo!!!

Continuing to pray for all of you in the midst of this horrific storm! We've moved all of our patio furniture, grill, etc. into the garage. They are predicting 40 mph winds here late Monday/early Tuesday and we expect that they will close school, as the GA governor declared the whole state an emergency and school's in our area have already closed.

@ceg I should have a project going as I have a nearly 10ct blue zircon that needs to be set. Why I'm not doing it is anyone's guess. My creative juices are just not firing as they should.

-------------------

tornado's are touching down in broward we were under a watch.
They're saying now Naples will be hit shortly. eyewall will make it to Naples in about an hour.

Light s are flickring right now. Me and the dog are in the bathroom. He is in the kitchen (figures :rolleyes2:)

We are getting Hurricane force winds where I am.

Good luck, Arcadian and yennyfire. Arcadian, you are right in the thick of it now. Prayers outgoing.

Deb

deb, soon as the eye is due west of us it will go to shit... Its moving very fast, but on the east we're getting hammered. Fort Pierce, which is over 100 miles away is flooding.

Thanks Deb! And they've officially closed school for Monday and Tuesday. Ugh. Arcadian, praying for you and all of those around you. We won't even get 1/100th of what those of you in FL will see and I'm still anxious. Expecting lots of trees down (we have tons of those super tall, skinny pines in our area), which usually results in power outages. Hoping that's the worst of it here....

I didn't check the fragrance of the day thread (although I will now in case you posted earlier). Do you have on any lucky scent? I don't mean to make light of this. I just want you to know i am with you! Am praying for you my friend!

Hugs!!!

Just stopping in to send out good vibes to anyone stuck in this storm.

@iLander I'm glad you decided to evacuate. I hope your house will be ok but I'm glad you took care of yourself first. Please keep us updated.

@Arcadian sounds like your dog is the cutest. I love greyhounds! :kiss2: Here's hoping the storm doesn't treat you too badly.

I was lucky enough to catch a flight out on Saturday. The airport was chaotic and there were a LOT of delays and cancellations. My wonderful DH and I were stuck there for about 7 hours, before we got to board. From what I understand, they didn't have enough pilots for the planes. The pilots from Friday night came in very late and had to get mandatory sleep hours. They couldn't get new pilots in so it delayed most of the morning flights. Personally, I'd rather wait in the airport than fly on a plane with over worked pilots. :confused2:

My poor friend has a daughter in Naples, Fl and he's very worried for her. Keeping her in my prayers.

Everything is still good at my location...just lots of wind and rain. DH did not put shutters up on front door or side lights and we have a small amount
of water coming in.

Still have electricty (not even any flickers yet). Wind is crazy but nothing like what they are getting on other side of the state so I am very thankful.

Callicake - glad your parents did make it out. Mine are also in east GA hopefully out of the cone.
Yennyfire - I hope your family (and home) stays safe. We have big pines in the lot next door that can reach our house. They are not the spindly
type though they are the bigger trunk ones so hopefully they will hold.
elle - Glad you make it out. Hoping your home remains safe.
Arcadian - Stay strong. I'm glad you made it out for a potty break. We've got a few hours before the stuff you're getting hits up here. sad :((
CEG and Callie - The first person to finish their project needs to start a "Storm" thread in th SMTB forum.:cheeky:

Good luck everyone...

All my PS friends in Florida and surrounding states, my prayers are with you. I didn't read the whole thread, been off PS lately due to the busyness of life. I am overwhelmed by the seriousness of all the disasters everywhere. Much prayer for all of you and thankful that some of you evacuated. Praying you have intact homes to come back to and that all your loved ones are safe.

Lost electric here. Good thing I made dinner early:mrgreen2:

Ugh Arcadian!! I'm praying super hard! We are cooking a couple days worth of food now and bought 40 lbs of ice so if we lose power we can throw the food in coolers if needed. It's amazing despite all of our technology that Mother Nature still holds most of the cards!!

I'm cooking right now which is early for us also...hope dinner finishes before we lose power! Actually I'm hoping that we never lose power but thats
probably wishful thinking!

Yennyfire...so true...Mother Nature holds the cards.

For each one of us who posts in this thread, I'm sure there are many more silently reading and sending out tons of thoughts and prayers for all of you facing Irma.

May you all stay safe.

It looked horrible yesterday night...i was watching TV. Don't know how Key West looks like now...i guess no one does.

Because I pray in an unconventional way (to Poseidon), I am mostly thinking of pulling together a list of decent charities - FLA will need it, and TX does, because I don't quite trust government help. Everything is so disorganized... They posted a request to help US Bahamas and even a wish list on Amazon but - get this - no address to send the stuff to, so if I order an electric generator, it will come to me, not to the donation point.
(I am surprised that Amazon does not lower the prices for disaster relief items and does not take over the delivery).

Anyhow...if someone could start making a list, I know that Gv. Scott released FL disaster relief fund, but it is private, what do people think of donating to it? Any other known places with good reputations and low overhead?

I am in central FL Orange County . Just praying nothing happens , the sky is so clear today . My husband is a physician and has to go to shelter duty from 5 pm today till Monday morning . I am staying home with the kids.

I'm sure you, your husband and children would all prefer to be together, instead of him being separated from the rest of you. Thank goodness he is qualified and willing to help others, even though it means he can't be there with you.

So many professionals leave their families to protect and care for strangers.
I, for one, am well aware of that, don't take it for granted, and am deeply appreciative.
I hope that people will use common sense and not put themselves in unnecessary danger.
There will be enough to deal with without having to help someone who went out to take photos or some other foolish reason.

May you and your family stay safe.

I can't believe you're back! When the electric went off I was expecting you to be off for days!!! Welcome back, Arcadian! And thank God you know how to work your generator! Have you been able to take stock of things yet?

Deb

Arcadian, yay for getting the generator going! Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you are doing. Hoping everyone is OK and that the worst is over. Sending more good thoughts your way and hoping everyone is safe.

Sorry if it's already been posted, but does anyone have a link to any aid websites for Irma victims please?

Hi Austina so very kind and generous of you to donate. Here are a few worthwhile organizations. The article linked below has a more complete list than what I posted.
