How would this J look in a YG bezel?

Hi all,

I’m currently planning on getting this 2ct J/SI1 diamond for about $10,111.

I’ve narrowed it down to this over some other H/SI1 and I/SI1 options that my jeweller shared because this diamond’s proportions seem to have the strongest light performance + a true carat.

I’m planning on setting this in either 18k YG or RG bezel.

Have attached a screenshot
of the GIA cert and a link to the video.

Would be keen to get this forum’s take :)

Thank you.

wow ! that's a very clean looking SI1......
36.5 could be bit aggressive -> firey...
price good
as for color.... I like $ value plays so I'd probably be looking at K/L if I were going with yellow gold bezel...

yes! it was definitely a nice surprise as i was comparing the clarity against even some of the VS2 options that i was given.

thanks for sharing the whiteflash diamond - i'll look into it.

any thoughts on the J colour in the diamond that I shared? i've noticed it's surprisingly lighter than the majority of the J's i've seen on the market.

yes i noticed that too.. you can never be sure if they filtering / grey scale the images but it does read more colorless than expected on the side....

also with all the colorless synths out there maybe warmer tones are welcome change / subtle differentiator that it's "real" diamond...

I like this diamond. Its proportions are unusual. It has a super high crown and leans towards fire and it also has very long lower girdle facets (80%) which makes really thin arrows which will tend towards a more splintery light play. I think that. Balance could be very interesting. Optical symmetry also looks good enough for me

This style cut should do well in a bezel. The bezel will increase contrast. The Yg will make it look a little more tinted. It won’t be a huge difference in a modern well cut round, but it will be there. I t to like a little tint and don’t really mind. Make sure you are ok with it

thank you for your thoughts! really appreciate it. would you mind sharing an example of a high-fire diamond that you've seen?

separately, would this diamond look obviously tinted on white gold or plat?

I am not responding in regards to the specific diamond you are speaking about. This is my opinion, based on the years when I was in the trade and made many yellow gold rings for diamonds from D colors down to my own P colored treasure that is my wedding ring.

When you put a yellowish diamond into a yellow gold bezel or even in a yellow gold ring with yellow prongs, it simply looks whiter than it did before going into the ring. The yellower the gold, the whiter the diamond will look. My favorite gold to use was 22kt yellow gold.

thank you for this input from years of being in the industry! this is extremely helpful and definitely makes me more confident about my choice now.
