How to size -- full resize? Beads? Bars?

If you were about a 5.25/5.5 (with hot weather swelling sometimes increasing that) and ring is currently a 6 would you fully resize to a 5.5? Ask for it to be done with beads or bars? It's a new engagement ring (for an almost 30 year old marriage :) ) with micropave split shank so DBL suggested that resizing more than once may require replacing the shank. So I'm trying to balance wanting a solid fit with no risk of slipping off and really hating those separate sizing tubes/wraps with not wanting to go too far. Each change has to fly cross country. Thoughts?

I would do sizing beads without hesitation. I’m basically at “princess and the pea” levels of sensitivity to small sensations, and I was convinced the beads would be uncomfortable, but I agreed to try them before doing bars or something else. By day 2, I couldn’t even feel them. They absolutely stop it from falling off, and leave plenty of room for swelling.

I’ve got sizing beads and I won’t have them again, for me they just aren’t as comfy as a flat shank and I will resize to get rid of them. I’ve had my rings for 3 years now and I’m always aware of them.

I think I m using the plastic tubes or wraps which u hated.

Personally I think they are fantastic since they help to prevent the bottom of the ring shank from scratches and absorbed stress and strains when I apply big pressure on the ring when I am doing heavy duty stuffs. They are so much cheaper too!

Also when I feel I want to wear the ring on different fingers.. I will simply take out the wraps.

Sizing beads. I'd never size a micropave shank. That said, my daughter uses the ring snuggies with no problems. If you really want it size 5.5, have them make you another one!

I think there are several different names! They are a great, easy, and inexpensive option for sure!

They can do “half beads” for sizing, essentially a round bead, but cut in half so only the dome part is on the shank (not unlike the sizing “cushions” shown above). A complete resize can stretch out the prongs on the shank letting loose all that micropave. And, beads, cushions or bars are removable for when Covid lockdowns last longer than a year and/or you discover Cake for breakfast :)
