how small is too small for french back earrings?

Need opinions.. I have a perfect little matching pair of BG H&A studs in white gold that I bought about 10 years or so ago. they are each about .30. is that too small to convert to a french back/clip style?

if so .. what would be the smallest size round that you would considering doing in this?

I have a .7 ct tw pair of yellow pears that I had made with French backs. Personally, in retrospect I would have liked them a little bigger, but I do get compliments on them often.
