I''m with ltfirecracker. I''m still learning ALOT. I haven''t collected for long, just 3 years, and I do not know everything by a long shot. Being here helps,but also just reading and reading (and reading some more) helps too.
Some of my early collection is just horrible...like bad, cracked and just plain yuck. The more you learn, the better you get. I buy some stones strictly for color, some for cut, some for the balance of both.
But being here also helps me from making mistakes...like I just made one on a sapphire and thankfully the folks here helped me through it.
