The Federalist Society has way too much power and influence, I find this group to be one of the reasons why our country is so torn. Of course Trump lets them.

The ABA has long been thought by conservatives to be a left leaning group due to the rating it gives constructionist judges. This is likely in response to the ethics committee's scuttlebutt about not allowing judges to be members of the Federalist Society.

If Trump is SO concerned about potential corruption, surprised he didn't investigate this dude (attorney diverting 65 million from charities to himself and family members).

....or withhold aid from Israel because Netanyahu was indicted on bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.

Drink just came out my nose because i involuntary snorted reading that :lol-2:

This is regards to non lawyers opining that what trump did were not crimes and therefore not worthy of impeachment. I apologize this is wordy as well. Dershowitz cited this lawyer to support their defense. This is an editorial from the lawyer setting the record straight. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/01/27/opinion/impeachment-defense-trump.amp.html

Interesting read, thanks for posting it. The last paragraph states:

"Abuse of power may be “unwritten” in any code, and obstruction of Congress may be “implied” by statutes, but these crimes are now as well established, well defined and destructive of the public trust as bribery or treason. If the president did what the House accuses him of doing, he can and should be punished."

*If* the president did..? Everyone agrees that he did, including Trump himself. He certainly won't be punished by removal, and Sen Manchin's proposal for censure was declared a "non-starter" by republicans. We still have the ballot box, I hope dems get out and vote en masse (for a change).

Also - I don't know why I referred to Sen Lamar Alexander as Lamar Jackson! I don't even follow football  .

Mitt Romney was a Profile in Courage today. His speech was a lesson in integrity for all of us. I can only imagine how proud his family must be of him.

Wow.

I take back EVERYTHING I said about him here on PS and Facebook haha! he IS a man of integrity and conscience, as opposed to my former Senator Susan Collins whom I cant vote again this year but continue to send money to the democratic opponent :)

Sad but this tweet from Trump Jr.

Lately the 'Pubs have stunned me speechless, but not in a good way. This is an exception.

Good on you Mitt!

(Although I'm still p!ssed off about the dog on top of the car.)

David Frum, a former speechwriter for George W Bush, said he didn't regret his vote. ( I took that to mean his vote when Romney was running for president.)

We have transitioned from a democratic republic to a dictatorship. Heil trump.

I think this was always destined to end in an aquital
So much time wasted
Come polling time vote him out with an unquestionable majority
But IMHO Bernie's not going to do it for you Dems
You need to go middle of the road and claim back the centre swing vote
i see President Trump's approval rating is at an all time high 59%

i see him getting re-elected with an increased majority

Wow. I have a newfound respect for Romney.

But he's a evil billionaire. :Up_to_something: AOC said no one should be billionaire. They stole the $$$ from somewhere.

President Trump behaved like a buffoon at the prayer breakfast and in the East Room of the White House yesterday,. Compare and contrast the speeches of Presidents Clinton and Trump after they were acquitted at their impeachment trials by the Senate.

Lt. Col. Vindman has been fired and escorted out of his office today.

Lt. Col. Vindman has been fired and escorted out of his office today.

I heard on the morning news that he was "reassigned". If he is in the military, he cannot be "fired" from the military for no reason. But I guess he can be fired from a specific job. As retribution. Unless someone comes up with a statute that protects him as a member of some category. I have no idea what that category might be, but then I am not an attorney. Never send a housewife to defend someone being harassed by President Trump. :))

WTF? why good? this is a scary statement. on either side.

Because I would not expect ANY administration to keep a subversive who reports to political opponents within its ranks. To say otherwise is partisan sour grapes.

Frankly I'm amazed that anyone is surprised or upset about it. He is the POTUS and can have the staff he wants in his administration. He is the CIC of the military btw.

there is nothing subversive about testifying if called by congress or the senate. it's our civic and legal duty. same way you don't get a choice when called for a deposition in a lawsuit, no matterntour personal feelings or what side you are on.

Ok. He did and now he is reassigned so he is not working in the administration. Why is this surprising to anyone?

He is a puffed up bureaucrat in a uniform who thinks he decides policy rather than the ones who are elected. There are many like him in government.
