The SO just started working from home.
Fortunately we both like board games ... chess, jenga, backgammon, scrabble, and abalone.

Bibi LOVES when we play games, like one big happy flock.
During games he'll roost on my SO as if he was a tree, moving from his shoulder, arm, chest, leg, fingers, neck, back, inside his shirt, outside, then back inside his shirt.

Since SO and I are paying attention to each other he'll do cute things to get attention (just like a kid).
He'll hang from one claw up side down on the front of his shirt, inviting belly scritches.
Too cute! :kiss2:
That little birdie is such a joy!

Sometimes our little green terrorist will get a feather up his @ss and boldly march across the scrabble board (destroying words) to steal a wooden tile that clearly needs to be chewed up.
When we take it away he gets super pissed and squawks loudly.
Awwww. Poor Bibi. :cry2:

Does Bibi have a thread? We need some virtual pets here.

Here in Sydney Australia we had a 36 C day and Bondi Beach was absolutely packed. All the young ones who say “it won’t affect me, I’m young”.
Today the Police closed Bondi Beach. I’m expecting we, in Sydney, will go into “lockdown” fairly soon.
And we had 3 Cruise Ships Dock and a few thousand people disembark and head off home. Oops some of them had the virus.
And the other big problem is that while some people are getting really really sick (and dying) many people aren’t really showing symptoms.
Quite a few people tried to get tested but didn’t meet “the criteria” so were sent home. A week later after trying again to get tested, they do get tested, yup, they do have the virus. So go home and self isolate. Unfortunately in the interim week and a half they went to work, went to the shops, caught public transport and went and socialised with friends.
Incidentally here in Australia the vast majority of our cases are traced back to either Europe or the US. I wonder if there are a lot of people out there who are infected but don’t know it.

Very scary and unfortunately a reality. NYC accounts for more than a third of all the USA cases now. We are a petri dish here and yes people still seem blasé about it all. We are sheltering in place and I wonder how well enforced it will be. People are still gathering in groups and the parks are crowded. I don't know if it is too late here. It is a very tough city to quarantine. So many people in so close a space.

I agree many are infected and don't yet know it. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if my dh and I are infected as we were going to PT for the past few weeks three times a week and shopping in the supermarkets which are very crowded since delivery slots are impossible to get now. These are uncertain times.

I’m supposed to clean the garage today. This doesn’t sound like coping! My husband trashed the garage with a season of fishing and hunting. It looks like an episode of hoarders in there! Wish me luck. If you don’t hear from me, know that a creature appeared from the depths of the garage floor and ate me.

I don't mind being home. I am not alone. DH and 3 adult sons. I am kinda a homebody anyway, so now I don't have to feel guilty when I haven't stepped out of the house in many days. I have actually had to go out to the dentist and to get an allergy shot. But right back home afterwords.
I have a huge stash of quilt kits. Mostly wool table mats and small quilts. So I have been siting on my bed with my stitching lamp next to me working on all kinds of projects. I am in a 'wool box' group and I get a new box every two months, filled with projects. I got a new one yesterday. So I am set for a good long while.
I sometimes spend and hour or two in the bath with my kindle and something to drink. Yesterday was sunny so DH and I went for a long walk. I have so many books on my kindle I will always have something to read.

I've skimmed through the replies. Things are really hitting home here for me in AZ. We just finished our spring break, but as of yesterday they've extended school closures to April 10. I have 3 kids at home along with hubby.

I've been dealing with self-quarantine this week with a ridiculous amount of time surfing the web and having a few virtual meetings, watching tv and sewing.

We got the original email from our principal early last week about us first being closed until 3/27 and to start making plans. So, I felt pretty productive. Then yesterday's announcement that it was going to be longer. I am sad. I'm sad for the kids. I'm sad for me. I'm sad for my daughter who's supposed to graduate this year. We don't know what this will mean for graduation or for her going off to college.

Thank you for allowing this thread and for the memes thread. This is all so crazy.

Perfect time to let the grays grow out naturally? :shhh:

I’m going to have to be reaaaaaaaaally desperate for that to happen. Thank goodness I’ve got 3 root touch up kits in the bathroom

Seriously though, I’ve just bought some garden games, quoits, a putting hole, and some plastic golf balls. We can still practice our swing and putting for when we can eventually get out to play for real.

I’m an introvert so I don’t mind at all. I cook, shop Amazon and read. I’m off for an indefinite period of time and want to retire in a year so I’m getting a taste of my future I suppose. My husband is working from home and going crazy. He needs people and to get out of the house but we are on lockdown now. I don’t know how he will do an extended time! The only bad thing; we haven’t seen the grandchildren.

I was doing ok until yesterday. Everything is closed, and our PM is talking Emergency Measures Act and bringing a military presence onto the streets. I've never seen everything closed, even on Xmas day.

The grocery store has quite a few empty shelves and yesterday the meat, bread, bulk, seafood and deli section were empty or closed. I'm baking a bit but you can't get flour or baking supplies either.

We work in the yard, and the weather has been great, which is good. I'm repotting all my houseplants and spring cleaning. Now my place looks clean and tidy, I'm ready to invite someone for lunch. No. Can. Do :(

I'm doing fine with physical part of isolation. We're 6 adults in a small house. What is happening is I stay in my room mostly, as I've been sick. My husband stays on the main floor and works on his leather craft hobby, doing great things. Youngest daughter stays mostly in her room and goes for midnight walks. Oldest daughter and fiance stay in the basement suite. So everyone has a quiet place really. The dogs get walked once or twice a day, and if other dogwalkers are seen, they get a wave and one set always crosses to the other side of the street. It's what you do if you see anyone. DD1 is the only one to go out and get supplies so far.

I want to put this out there in case there are people who sew (and maybe I should start a new thread on this...let me know?)

But there are hospitals running out of supplies, they're asking people who have the ability to sew to make face masks. I have a lot of material here, so I will be pulling out the sewing machine to help this effort. There is a facebook group that is connecting hospitals with people who sew, so if you have the ability and want to help, this is one way to do that.

I won't be able to do it all the time and will do so until I run out of fabric.

As an introvert, I am pleased to have less social contact with others.

I agree...I’m always short on sleep because I have to get up at 5:30 every morning even if I have a bad night and can’t sleep. It’s nice to wake up without an alarm...That said...I still wake up early....haha

I LOVE this tree!!!! My grandma had one that was similar. Can you share where you got it?

I found it an an antique shop around the corner from my house. You can find them on EBay and Etsy though.

This honestly is the best part of isolation. The fact that weather is getting nicer and we live on a quiet cul de sac, kids can ride their bikes in front of the house for hours on end. Can't I would've missed all this being away from home for work so much...

The non stop fighting, whining, and crying once they're inside, I could do without. LOL!

That's what these are for.

@kenny I second the request for more Bibi pictures over the coming days. So cute, and those beautiful colors are enough to brighten anyone's day. ♥️

wheelbarrow (a term my mother used in place of swear words :mrgreen2: )
i forgot to buy yeast

You can use fruit to make wild yeast for baking. I've used grapes and raisins to make "yeast water" to make bread. It uses the yeast that lives on the surface of the grapes. I heard other fruit works too but I haven't tried it myself. If you have experience with sourdough or baking bread it should be straightforward. Essentially, you soak grapes or raisins or apple peels in water for few days until you see fermentation /carbonation happening, which indicates the presence of yeast, then use the yeast water for baking.

Something else I can do, to revise my French, in readiness for my camping trip in France towards the end of the year.

Just finished our Easter tree and decorating the windows. Kind of an idyllic scene with the snow falling.

I feel like I'm starting to lose it! As an example, DH and I were sitting in the car this morning and I was watching the squirrels and turned to him and said "what do you think the success rate of finding things is for squirrels? It seems they dig and find nothing more often than not".

In addition I'm seriously considering replacing my morning latte with a wine spritzer to get through homeschooling two kids.

Honey, I have conversations like this with TR all the time. Either you're fine... or I'm not either!

As for the wine spritzer... yessssssssss!
