Hope the President does a good job for USA

And I, and a number of leading political commentators and historians would argue that Bush and Cheney largely created the conditions that cause the rise if ISIS as well, so given the fact the Bush administration was largely responsible for creating some of todays worst problems ie the GFC, ISIS etc, I'd suggest DF that recent conservative leaders in your country have an even worse geopolitical and national track record than the bleeding heart liberals you seem to so fondly despise.
I'd agree with you on that statement. His father is a much wiser man.

So strange that a person with this many opinions about how things should be run couldn't even be bothered to vote.
I didn't vote b/c Rubio was not nominated by the GOP.

Saw the news tonight, 3 innocent people died, one was run over by a car by a home-grown radicalized supremacy terrorist, then 2 people trying to help in a helicopter crash. Then I see david duke on TV telling people that the rally represents trumps promises and that white supremacists put trump in office and telling trump to look in the mirror.
Then I see that north korea says they are shooting missles at guam on tuesday. between war, trumps weakness with putin and now trump is refusing to condemn white supremacists again, I again wonder what is this country coming to. I am shocked the GOP thinks that trump should stay in power. I guess if the 33% approval rating trump has are these people who are on tv with torches, trump is right ... he could shoot someone on 5th ave and not lose a single voter. Maybe there is no line he could cross before they would demand his resignation.
I cannot believe this is where we are in the USA right now. And there is no getting better for the foreseeable future as trump isnt going to change and has no plan to avoid a war, stand up to putin or now keep people safe from the white supremacists who think that their race is somehow superior. I had to stop reading tonight when I saw how trump referred to the people who were hurt by the terrorist, he literally sends them his " best regards " in recovery.
I just can't even.

@AGBF

, what's the "noodle" for?

Essentially it's a flotation device. I believe it was actually invented for kids. I know that when my daughter was young, I bought a couple for her and her friends to play with in our pool. If one wants to be a lazy "swimmer" and lean on it and kick, he can propel himself through the pool with minimal enerergy. It also supports those who are not too energetic about treading water in the deeper areas. It is not a substitute for parental supervision of children in a pool; it is simply a toy!

I drove home to Connecticut from Virginia yesterday, the day of the Charlottesville terrorism, and had lots of time to listen to the radio. In fact my drive was extra long because there was an accident closing down two lanes on a bridge and then there was a torrential deluge. When I got to Connecticut I put on the television and watched CNN.

I nearly leapt out of the car I was so enraged while Trump was speaking. I had heard every detail of the reports coming out of Charlottesville all moring (and, by the way, I am familiar with Charlottesville although not as familiar with it as Elliot is!). It is not that far from my home and I have a good friend in Keswick whose husband teaches at UVA.

I couldn't believe he was blathering on about his accomplishments and chit chatting with veterans on the air while this massive tragedy was underway! I wanted to jump out of the car and go shake him! Why wasn't General Kelly doing that? Shouldn't a Marine Corps General be able to wake him up?

And both sides were to blame? Where were there two sides? In a murder is the murder victim now one side of the problem?

I'll be back later. I have to go watch CNN!

Agbf,
You got that right. There seems to be no situtation where this person will not interject how great he thinks he is. Boy scouts jamboree, terrorist attack in charlotte, or anywhere he is allowed to talk unscripted. Literally. ANYWHERE ANYTIME he will find a way to promote himself.
Talking to the mayor of guam, the other day, right after he has taunted north korea that he is waiting to see if NK will bomb guam, he brags to the mayor that he has helped guam and they are going to get more tourists now becuase of him.

Re the many sides comment: I heard that too this morning on the news and nearly yelled at the tv. Charlotte had 3 sets of people there . ( one side/group would be the white supremacists at the rally , the next side/ group is the protestors of the supremacists - had he been referring to those 2 sets of people he would have said both- but he repeated saying MANY. The only other set ( 3rd group ) of people were the law enforcement who came to try to ensure safety.
I just cannot understand how a president blames law enforcement , and the VICTIMS of the crime for violence and murder of the white supremacist.

It takes a terrible person to look at a situtation where a white supremacist is literally trying to murder people by running over them and saying the law enforcement and victims are all to share in the blame.
It reminds me of the police who charged the man they beat with destroying the uniform becuase his blood got on it while they were beating him.
It is in some ways like watching a building burn and condeming the firefighters, the civilians who came to help and arsonists as equal factors in the destruction.
He worded it so that the white supremacists knew he was saying he might not only blame them.

I seriously doubt Trump is going to say anything strong than he did yesterday. The fact that he included EVERYONE in his speech had me seeing red. @AGBF you weren't alone. My husband and I were in the car when we heard Trump's speech. We were both incensed.

What we are witnessing isn't going to go away. I'm angry and don't know how anyone is surprised by what happened yesterday. This country elected a candidate that based his whole campaign on hate. We are seeing hate in action. As David Duke said yesterday, they were the ones who got Trump elected. It's going to take all of us speaking up and not staying silent when these types of things happen and using our vote to show what we want our country to look like. When you elect hate, that is exactly what you are going to get.

What we saw yesterday is what Hillary was talking about when she called a group of Trump supporters "deplorables". Those who voted for him helped set all of this motion.

Watching CNN I love Jake Tapper. He is giving Tom Bossert everything this jerk deserves this morning.

Trump better wake up. David Duke's little speech about how they put Trump in office is a Democrat campaign commercial in the making.

The AP interviewed the mother of the white supremacist who murdered one and tried to murder the entire crowd. She said she didnt know he was going to a white supremacist rally and that he told her he was attending a donald trump rally. She said she didnt think he was one because he had a black friend.

I watched this but don't see where it says Iran will be like North Korea..

Clinton did not give North Korea their nuclear material.

http://globalnews.ca/news/3642815/bill-clinton-nuclear-reactor-north-korea/

Now I did read that Iran is watching ferverently what is going on in North Korea. They have a shared enemy - US.

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/10/its...-pose-a-nuclear-problem-for-donald-trump.html

Do you think we can just generalize that this will happen? It is something to be aware of, and I think Trump is.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/s...uclear-weapons-in-north-korea/article/2631128

Deb.
What I'm try to say is that Clinton gave billions to N.K. supposedly in exchange for giving up their nuke programs. Guess what? surprise, surprise:roll2: they screwed us by using our billions to advance their nuke programs, so here we are today. Then Obama gave billions to Iran for basically the same reasons. Guess what the Iranians are doing with our billions?. In the near future we will have to deal with Iran as we are doing with N.K. today.

I so appreciate your time MollyM.. it takes time to look up facts and opinions and read them and post them. It is true Clinton did NOT give billions to North Korea to beef up their nuclear stockpile.

What is impossible to me is to change the mind of someone who believes that he did. If the mind of a person is one who needs a STRONG leader, a loud mouth, a walk noisily and wave that big stick around, then Trump is your guy, because some people just follow and need a bully to lead them. If Trump accolytes would use critical thinking and read all sides of the argument they MIGHT change. But if a person does not raise their consciousness and expand their reading and views it's a lost cause.

thank you again MollyM, the links were fascinating.

Um no. Clinton did not give billions to North Korea. And instead of a video from JewTube.TV (whatever that is, I didn't click to view it), I'll offer the July 2008 report to Congress on U.S. Assistance to North Korea from the Congressional Research Service.
https://fas.org/sgp/crs/row/RS21834.pdf
You'll see that 60% of the assistance given to DKRP (through Congressional appropriations) during the 13 fiscal years covered by the report (so 7 years of that is the Bush II administration) was humanitarian, food aid -- given largely to the UN's World Food Program -- in the years of the famine in the DKRP and the several years thereafter. The monies shown in the KEDO column of the Table on p. 2 of the CRS Report did not go directly to DPRK; DPRK was never even a member of the Korean Peninsula Economic Development Organization.

The CRS Report gives "snapshots" of KEDO & the 6-Party Talks (2003-2007), but these pages are decent supplements (and not inordinately long) re the Agreed Framework that was the underpinning of KEDO; KEDO itself; and the 6-Party Talks:

Do you mean conservative policies - supply side? or conservative scared - nuke 'em? I used to respect conservatives when I was younger, I used to believe that we needed liberals, democrats, pubs and conservatives to run our country.. not anymore.

Nope, not till the day we elect a conservative minority as POTUS.

Oh yeah, we're great, greatly hated by the rest of the world.
.

A good number of the Trump supporters I have met could care less how we are perceived by the rest of the world. I don't think it comes as a surprise that Trump has the diplomacy skills of a rock. Which is another reason I was amazed he was elected.

For sure!

I will not witness a conservative minority in the WH during my lifetime, however I may live long enough to witness our first woman prez.

Who knows.. we don't. Minorities tend to not be conservative although that is changing.

They would elect Kim Kardashian, too. It is the TV factor. The Apprentice. They think since he's the boss on TV, he knows how...

I think we all need to wake up. Here is what the Daily Stormer, the leaflet of white supremacists, that organized the rally, wrote about the woman killed in the rally.

https://www.dailystormer.com/heathe...ncident-was-a-fat-childless-32-year-old-slut/

Some things need to be reposted. It is horrible, but please read it. It is our country. These people live among us.

Living proof that many Trump supporters aka his merry band of white misogynist extremists and the marginalised who claim to be the supposedly socially forgotten actually do have an IQ lower than my left shoe. And they were outraged at the idea of being called "a basket of deplorables" meanwhile the rest of the world is thinking when the shoe fits....

Thanks for the link arkieb1, highly enlightening. This is what they had to say about Trump's press conference:
________________
3:46 PM:

Trump comments were good. He didn’t attack us. He just said the nation should come together. Nothing specific against us.

He said that we need to study why people are so angry, and implied that there was hate… on both sides!

So he implied the antifa are haters.

There was virtually no counter-signaling of us at all.

He said he loves us all.

Also refused to answer a question about White Nationalists supporting him.

No condemnation at all.

When asked to condemn, he just walked out of the room.

Really, really good.

God bless him.

What's the title of this thread again? Hope the President does a good job for USA? There ya go AnnaH, he's doing a *great* job according to his supporters!

Yup, our disgusting POTUS is encouraging white supremacists. That's our life now. The same man who screamed about how Obama and HRC couldnt say "radical terrorism", won't speak out against freaking Nazis. He is the most pathetic and disgusting human being.

Beautifully said Callie. It's like you're walking around in my brain. And yet there are still people making excuses and justifying his actions/behavior. I'm so let down by some. It's almost like they refuse to see what's right in front of their face simply because it proves just how wrong they were. Their ego is getting in the way of logic and sound thought. Truly disgusting.
