Is this set too high? This is a custom round nova from JannPaul, 1.32 ct

If you look at the side profile of the head you can see where the girdle is designed to sit.
Which is here its at.
Its on the higher side but its in the right place for the head it is in.
I dont think its unreasonably high but that is personal preference.

Ah I see what you mean, it’s meant to sit like where the “petals” meet it looks like.

The diamond is 1.32 ct and here are the measurements:

Its really personal preference, but to me it looks good and should wear fine.
 
It is down to personal preferences IMHO.

For this particular ring, it is way too high for my liking.

The stone is not unusually high. However, the single shank, without shoulders, makes the entire side of the setting quite visible. That alone adds to the appearance of height. A cathedral style shank shoulder that attaches to the setting's sides adds security to prevent bending of the shank or the loss of the entire setting. It also makes the diamond look a bit lower although it is an illusion.
