Hey everyone, I am new but have been doing a ton a research and I am going out of my mind as I don't know what I am looking at...

I am planning on proposing and in search for that perfect ring. I have come to find that I would like to go with the Tacori Classic Crescent design but debating to try finding a custom jeweler as I would like to save some money...

I like the classic crescent look but do not like the setting that the diamond sits in. I like the RoyalT setting better but again looking at Tacori's website the Setting alone is 10k

I am sure many of you have heard this before but I am starting the process and even though I wouldnt mind paying more money for the right ring I would like to save some money as well!

Thanks for all your help!

Can you include pictures of the exact settings you like? Both the crescents and Royal Ts have a bunch of different setting options.

What is your budget for the setting? What size finger does your GF have? Has your GF said that
she likes Tacori settings?

Has your GF seen the Tacori settings IRL? The reason I ask is because I was obsessed with them until I saw them in person. They are quite underwhelming. They looked great in ads, on TV, etc, but some styles were not so IRL. Also, the crescent style, while lovely, is very damage prone due to all the cut-outs/spaces.

Here are some links as to what I like however do not like the bulky setting but like band. The second two links are of the RoyalT and I like the setting of the center diamond better.

The only thing that she has said is that she like princess cut. I am more of a round person but its not about me so I thought that if I could get round diamonds in the band like the classic crescent and then a princess center stone that would be nice. I added the 3rd link which was a cushion which is wrapped. I am undecided if I like the wrapped or not...

She is very traditional when it comes to being engaged we had talked and she said she does not want to shop together for a ring she "the guy" to pick as it is apart of both of us when it comes to my tastes as well as some of her tastes.

I have heard things such as the settings on a tacori are not as strong so that is why I was considering a custom piece that may look like a Tacori or that style so to speak but be stronger in the setting??? She has never stated anything about a specific designer so the tacori came from my vision as I saw the classic crescent ring and fell in love with the look but again I do want it strong enough for her not to worry...

She is a nurse but stated that many nurse but stated that many nurses do not wear their rings and just wear there wedding band so that it doesnt catch on gloves and so on...

I have thought of just getting a diamond channel set rolling ring (I believe they call them a Russian wedding ring or trinity ring). That way it would be three wrings wrapping in diamonds... But then the other day she stated it would be nice to have a center stone so there went that idea.

I am not sure if having a custom piece would be a more cost effective way to go thus not paying for a brand name but as far a budget goes I really dont have one just want to find the right look. She stated she was a 7 ring size as she really didnt know as all the rings she has are cheaper and a little loose she said. All this talk was sometime ago...

Thanks for your help everyone!!!

Budget is REALLY important, can you please fill us in?

Can i say i don't care for the settings you posted? THe first appears to be quite a thick band and the diamonds on the side will rub a wedding band. Never been a fan of a Princess stone in a halo (the wrapped look)

WF carries Tacori, what about these?

I do think there are other options out there for you... From what you said, she seems to have a very classy style and i think something a little more simple would work too.

https://www.whiteflash.com/engageme...-flat-edge-solitaire-engagement-ring-2552.htm Still has some detailing on the side

https://www.whiteflash.com/engageme...eek-line-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-422.htm VERY classy and still has some pave on the band

correct I dont care for the classic crescent setting as it is too bulky... I also agree as I am not a fan of the wrapped look.

Oh yeah... they are for real, and they are ridiculously priced. I was very disappointed when I saw them in real life.

OP, is your FF dead set on the name brand Tacori, or does she just like the style? Has she seen the Tacori settings she likes in person? If she IS set on Tacori, then I strongly advise you to insist she see the exact setting she likes with a similar sized stone. If she still wants Tacori, then it looks like you may just have to buy Tacori... just know that the setting will eat up a ton of your budget, making the size diamond smaller than if she chose non-Tacori for the setting.

...and we need to know the budget. :halo:

It seemed from reading the above that the poster liked Tacori, but I am not sure if his FF has indicated that. I like the sleek line pave setting setting farrahlyn posted above better than the Tacori. Not sure how much you want to spend on the setting, but if I was even considering spending anywhere close to what the Tacori settings are listed at, I would have Victor Canera make the ring. His rings are works of art and are much less than the above settings you posted.

Oh yes, I would much rather have a VC original and put the extra $5-7K toward the diamond

Another thing to consider, does your FF plan on wearing her rings 24/7? Woodlands she take them off when sleeping, washing up, gym etc? These things make a difference when selecting a setting.

Fwiw, I have a tacori, reverse crescent collection, I've had zero problems. Not even those teeny little stones set into the sides have moved. However, I take my rings off when playing sports, showering and sleeping. And I maintain my rings and get them checked regularly.

Does your girl have a Pinterest account you can snoop thru? Lots of gals "pin" pictures they like and some PSers here are good at distilling themes from various styles pinned.

I think she has seen Tacori but I don't she cares. I personally like the Tacori. I am trying to find if there was a jeweler out there that could great this kind of design on a smaller budget instead of paying for the name.

Im not set on tacori just like that style...

Any info would be great!

I see. You're thinking halo. I just stopped by a tacori vendor last week, and I kid you not. Compared to the vendors below, tacori pieces show a lot more metal, comparatively. If you like that, great. But the vendors below makes rings, halos that are much more refined, and show so much less metal than the tacori settings I saw.

And please allow me to say I am flabbergasted at some of the tacori prices. The pieces by Victor Canera and Steven Kirsch and hand forged platinum masterpieces that are below the tacori price point, based on quotes that I have requested. And I think Caysie Van Beber has a bench that can do hand forged work too. You can confirm that with her or maybe some other PSers that have worked with her. Regardless her work is extremely fine as well.

So before you plop down $8-$10K for a setting, allow yourself time to do due diligence on the options. There are some artisans that are under the radar because the hand make each piece to very exacting standards and very picky people (ie: Pricescopers).
