Help With Studs for Wedding Gift

Thanks for your previous help with my engagement ring. You made the process much less stressful for a novice diamond buyer!

Now that I’ve got the “itch” I’m thinking of buying her diamond studs for a wedding gift.

What’s the best route to do this? Purchase stones and take to a jeweler for setting, find finished studs on any of the online retailers you all recommend, or go to a local jeweler here in Chicago? Also, what are some basic clarity and color guidelines to follow if I’m looking in the 1-1.5 TCW range?

He is great—my husband got my engagement ring there back in 1999, and we have purchased lots of jewels from him through the years. I’m thinking of heading back next year for larger studs!

My current studs are 1.01 ctw G/SI2, but I have gone as low as J before.

You are looking at a very nice carat weight! But you may decide to use a jeweler with an upgrade policy in the event you want to trade up in future years!
