Help with selecting diamond( James Allen)

Please help me in selecting a cushion 1.9 I SI1 vs 1.5 H VS1 Round vs 1.5 I VS1 Round. I am so confused and dont understand looking at the pics if the diamond is cloudy or good.

First off, you’ve obviously listed choices for two different cuts, round and cushion. Has your SO seen both in person? If you’re both still undecided, I’d recommend 2 separate posts to track recommendations for each and then once you’ve narrowed down to one of each cut, you and/or your SO can make the final decision.

With this in mind, I’ll speak to the MRB (round) selection you posted. Both are slightly outside PS-recommended parameters (even though they are GIA XXX). There is more to a diamond looking “good” or “cloudy”. To achieve maximum brilliance, sparkle/scintillation and fire, cut is priority. Angles need to be complimentary, as well as table and depth proportions. Symmetry also plays a factor. It’s obviously more scientific than that, but by sticking to the following parameters, and confirming specs via the HCA tool, as well as ASET and/or ideal scope images, you’ll be well-informed. Please note that these aforementioned tools are used to eliminate potentially bad options; your ultimate decision should be made with your eyes.

PS-recommended specs:
Table: 54-57
Depth: 60-62.4 (ideally <62)
If table and depth are both ~60, this is called a 60/60 stone (tend to offer more spread and white light scintillation)
Crown angle: 34-35.5
Pavilion angle: 40.6-41
Note: lower crown angles should be paired with higher pavilion angles (eg 34/40.8-41, 35-35.5/40.6). Crown and pavilion angles on the boundaries of the recommended range typically only work if all facets are cut to tight specs (reports typically average these and GIA also rounds), which is why ASET, ideal scope and even H&A are vital to see variations in facets and potential light leakage.

Since the setting you’ve posted (solitaire with pave cathedral) is common to most vendors, I’ve opened the search up to ideal/super-ideal options with images. Others will provide more options, but these are meant to introduce to highly recommended online vendors who also offer better policies if you ever want to upgrade (not in any particular order).
