help with princess diamond measurements and price

Hi,

I am wondering if I can get some info and advice about the mm measurements for princess diamonds. I have been looking at a couple of different stones and one that had 8mm measurement was listed as only 2.3cts while I have seen others with the same measurements around 3cts? is this because of the depth? and also would a 3ct 8mm princess diamond face up and look bigger than a 2ct round and if not what is the equivalent princess size?

I have also done the search here and on other websites but wanted to know what is the best price range I should expect to pay for a FG/VS2-SI1 princess cut diamond in 2.3 ct or around 3ct?

Hi Pishi76, it might be that 2.3ct princess diamond has very shallow crown.

Re: price. You can get a ballpark figure by running price comparison for similar diamonds from Pricescope front page.

thanks, I read those posts, a little confusing for me. I am just wondering that if the mm measurements of a diamond means they will look the same size, then wouldn''t it make more sense for me to pay less for a 2.3ct diamond instead of one that is like almost 3cts 2.92 and both are 8mm? As besides the usual stuff to take into consideration, I want the diamond to look as big as possible for our budget without having to sacrifice quality and color. So knowing that, what would be the best thing to do and how much should I expect to pay for a princess cut that I guess will face up around approxim. close to 8mm in FG VS-SI1??? or would you guys recommend different color/clarity to get more bang for the buck and still keep the stone white with no real visible inclusions?

Do you want the best cut, or is size/color/clarity more important?

Yes, if two stones are 8mm, they will look the same size.

well, I like white diamonds I can tell the H color yellowness but don''t mind inclusions as much as long as they are not black carbon spots or so noticeable, believe it or not I saw a 1.69 E I1 that I was considering before as it was beautiful shined so nice and I didn''t see any spots or anything visible to the naked eye. However, I have to admit I care about the size as I like bigger stones so now knowing that what would you recommend and what price range should I expect to pay for it?
