Hi All. I've been reading up on diamonds for a couple of years and PS has been very informative and helpful especially once I fell in love with antique style cushions. I called Leon yesterday and he offered me a deal on a 2.08 F VS2 True Antique Cushion for 24k. Based on these specs and looks of the diamond, is this a good deal? I think he told me today on the phone it is Ideal cut. He wants a commitment by today and payment. Any help in pulling the trigger will be appreciated since I also called Mark T at ERD to source me some rectangular chunky cushions in the 1.5-2ish range. This diamond looks beautiful but a wee out of my given budget so advice is greatly appreciated. The diamond will be pulled from this Mon Cherie ring.

Why is he given you 24 hours to decide? I personally like to shop around to see what is out there for my budget and am pretty turned off by any time restraints. Now with all that said I would pass on this one just because I'm not a fan of the overall look, plus the cutlet really bothers me for some reason. It draws my eye right in, but not in a good way.

What do you think of the diamond? Do you like it?
Were the F, VS2 a requirement?

To die for stone I just saw the video...

My spec was just eye clean so SI or higher. I was willing to go down to a J with some fluro. But I wanted it to look fairly white and didnt want that yellowish tinge center stone contrasting with bright pave in setting. It looks beautiful to me, I actually like large culet...

OP - for comparison I looked real quick on the ERD website and based on that, I'd consider the $24K for the Mege stone to be a fair market price, rather than a "good deal" - and like SB621, I am put off by the 24-hour limit for you to decide. That said, I do very much like the look of the Mege diamond, both video and photo, and it seems to fit the parameters you have set.

Only you can decide if you want to stretch your budget a bit, and/or if you are okay with having to rush your decision - if you have no time constraints, I'd think between ERD, Old World Diamonds and other PS-respected online vendors you can find other diamonds that fit your criteria. But if this Mege diamond sings to you in a way that other cushions haven't, then you may have your answer.

That was kind of my conclusion. It was in line with ERD, GOG and Victor C's antique cushions pricing. It does look beautiful and he is giving me a discount on the setting. Leon says he picked it out himself and that he rarely does that for diamonds. I know, the time constraint is iffy but based on other reviews he does that and I definitely don't want to piss off Leon. He said that was as low as he could go and that it's near cost. For reference he is giving me the 401 setting with melee included at 2500 which is on the low end of quotes for this style. But again Leon is an artiste and I figured I would trust him on the quality of the diamond.
