Help, what do you think of this OMC (AGS cert)

In searching Pricescope for a cushion, modern cut of similar size, color and clarity one finds prices from $8700 to $13700. No results are found when searching for an Old Mine Cut cushion shape of this color and clarity. The mounting may have considerable added value, but the diamond you have found likely is not of greater value than the range for modern cuts shown here. One must keep in mind that a retail store may ask a somewhat higher price than an on-line vendor and that often, asking prices are subject to some negotiation.
 
The price was $18990.
Setting supposedly $3000.
Makes the stone 16K which I found quite steep for it.
I loved the whole feel of the ring but was a bit underwhelmed by the struts (very thin to my perceived idea of durability), simple halo and pave shank, the stone overall shape was nice but a bit dark center the more I looked at it :(sad , not much fire and brillance either, under the jewelry store light! ;(
Felt I could get a much better stone fot 16K. Setting is somewhat what I am looking for but few tweaks.
Am I dreaming than I can get a better stone for 16K? :Up_to_something:
BTW mall jeweler but how does custom work (this was one of their custom settings).
 
Do you want a modern or an antique cushion?
 
The price is steep for an old mine cushion.
 
I prefer an antique cushion.
OMC and OEC are my favorites.
My ering has my DH's great aunt OMC cushion and the more I look at rings on PS the more I just drool over old cushions, at the stores(Tiffany, BB mall and F mall ), the only solitaire that really spoke to me was that antique cushion like.
Tiffany did not really do much for me :wink2: overpricing is not my cup of tea!,

and this "custom" mall jeweler the salesperson got this ring out for me first eventought I did not spoke of antique anything , just said delicate halo and mentionned VC! Bawawah. Price just made me smirk a bit but I still don't know much. Examining the ring/stone it appeared a bit flimsy to me (struts were delicate but hair thin :eek: )
So anyway gave my infos in case she could find a better stone (and price, the fun part she said she was extremelly competitive...)
I have plenty of time. Ring is for June anniversary.

was going for bigger rings/stones than I ( :lickout: )
he is not against of buying a 3 stacker(thanks Tiffany for putting 3 eternity rings on my finger and husband going yes really nice, we could do that!),
he really liked the look of that halo solitaire with pave shanks. :love: .
So I need advice.
Meeting with JbEG on Wednesday with a good selection of stones ( I am hoping 3 ) and 2 rings.

So met with JbEG. Great if not amazing people (only met ) and she showed me 2 more rings than the ones I pre selected and she did pick very good ones.
The LM she has cannot be resized to my size :errrr: but at the same time the diamond did not make my heart sing that much (I really wantedd to love this ring but ...)
The VC ring is gorgeous but I think I "need" a solitaire/halo before going funky.
And then she showed me 2 halos that were great. Unfortunately the one I like most we have no idea if the girdle is OK or not and anyway I think it is sold already as i am writing this.
And of course the loose stonesI liked/preselected the honker did not that much for me and it is a bit above what I feel comfy spending right now. She had another one that is just absolutly gorgeous but again above what I feel comfy spending (not that I could not but if i want to do the Emilya setting it starts to be a bit!).
It is been 10 days and I still think of the loose dreamy creamy one (and of course the cushion halo set but it seems gone).
Otherwise the other jeweller found me 3 other stones that I did not fall in ove with, one is AGS cert and ideal but not the ratio I would prefer and again the price seems to be quite inflated ( I VS2 2.23ct $23250 AGS cut grade 0 and light, polish symmetry 0) My not being wowed was the stones looked more grey to me than yellow. Body color grey brownish.
I definetly want yellow/cream/antique lace and not grey.
The search is still on but I might just go see that "little"dreamy creamy above budget and throw all prudence to the fire and get it.
Please pray for me that I can negociate a good deal.
