Help?! RB choices from JbEG with kylie or mimi?

Hi y'all

This is my first posting here on pricescope. I have been doing a little research and came across this website. My boyfriend is in the army and deployed to afghanistan right now and told me that he would like me to pick a ring because he wants to make sure that I LOVE what I am getting proposed to with Okay, so I know what I love, but I'm pretty sure I have champagne taste on a beer budget I was hoping some of you diamond lovers/experts could help me out! I love the look of a round brilliant stone in a cushion setting or a cushion stone in a cushion setting. I have decided that I really love the JbEG signature settings of "kylie" and "mimi". They are gorgeous! My budget is 10,000$ including the setting and diamond. I have been suggested the following stones to fit one of the settings that I like. Any suggestions or input on these?

I am slightly obsessed with the look of Victor Canera's Emilya halo ring and Harry Winston's cushion cut micropave halo ring, but obviously know those are both out of my budget. That is the kind of look that I am going for though. The best way that I can see is to stick with JbEG to try to achieve the same type look and stay within my budget. Any input is appreciated!! Honestly for 10k and you want the Emilya setting I would contact Engagment Rings Direct. They do a wonderful CAST version of the HW inspired halo for around 2.5k leaving you 7.5k for a diamond. I would definitely contact them asap about it and this is so doable.

And welcome to PS. I'm a military wife too though I'm AF but we are stationed at an Army installation right now. I know it is hard with a deployed loved one so keep yourself busy and I hope he stays safe.

secondly, i agree, id get one from Engagement rings direct
i dont know if youve seen this, its hand forged from them so most likely out of budget, but getting an old cut in a low color (o-p range)in rose gold (yellow gold would be great too!) would be amazing! Just have it CAD/CAST instead of hand forged

another place to look for old cuts in lower colors like that would be Old world diamonds. Id constact ERD, see how much a cast HW style setting would be, then you can figure out what your remaining budget is for the stone... Give a cam to OWD and see what they can do

JbEG just came out with several older cuts that are higher in color. Have you seen a lower colored diamond before? I just want to make sure you are OK with it and not disappointed as it will have a tint. For me I have an N/O in a VC Emilya halo and I personally LOUVEEEEE it, but I know it is not for everyone.

And I apologize I didn't look at your links and didn't see you were looking for antique diamonds. I second contacting Adam at OWD (I bought my antique cushion from him). He has a wonderful eye and many PSers have bought from him. He typically doesn't cert all his diamonds but dont' let that scare you. He will send it off to GIA (in the same building) if you want a cert. I also think his prices are lower then JbEG, but the hitch is you have to call or email him. His website isn't fantastic and honestly the diamonds don't look very good on it. He will pick out some diamonds based on your specs and budget and send you youtubes videos of it.

Yes I hope he stays safe too. I think he told me to look for my engagement ring so I can have something to do to keep my occupied and busy and know that we will be physically together again one day and it will be SO worth it So i'm not arguing, especially with the 10,000$ budget! lol.

thanks for the response. Those rings are GORGEOUS! Exactly what I am looking for. I don't know if I would want the rose gold though. I am going to attach a picture of what I want, I don't know who it belongs to so hopefully no one gets upset! Maybe I could send the picture to Mark at ERD and see what he can do.

Do people really notice that yours is lower colored? Your ring is absolutely amazing. Do you mind telling me the specs on it? I will contact Adam at OWD as well. Thank you for responding.

would you be open to a vintage ring?

this seems like it might have potential, and is only a K, and the center i think they said 1.45? that way an old cut K you could have i any metal color. And has a return policy, pop that stone out and do whatever with that setting.

i understand the reluctance to buy over the internet, but if you know what you want, ERD can give you lots of cads and stuff so your ring turns out exactly how you want, which really, is better than popping into some store and picking out one of their settings, isnt it?

they have done that setting honestly so many times, i think they could really do something you would love.

Buying online is truly the least of your worries. You will get a better deal and better customer serivce then you would in a store. ERD as well as JBEG and OWD are wonderful. They are highly recommended on here for a reason. I trust them over my own flesh and blood (though I have never worked or been in contract with ERD). If you are nervous about the color they will put a hold on your credit card and send you the diamond to look at. That way you can see how you feel about it before you purchase. However, I have found most places take excellent photos and youtube videos and that is enough for me to go off of.

Yes my diamond does have a tint to it but I love it. I wanted a lower colored diamond. I think many people go lower in color because they want larger diamonds so they hope they face up white or have flur to boost the whitening power. I wanted an ivory ecru color so my N/O with no flur works for me. In most lightening conditions you see a slight tint to the ivory side. Sometimes it looks plenty white compared to my G/H melee in my halo. But the point I'm trying to make is either you like low colored diamonds or you are dropping down to M because you want to max out your size which is fine as well. Just be prepared if you are color sensative the ivoryness of anything under a K might drive you nuts.
