Hi all, I am purchasing this diamond, but as many do, I am getting nervous now (I should have come here first!). Could you please take a look at this diamond, and let me know if you think this is a fish-eye? It is 4.7 carat, oval. The gemologist is telling me they don't see a fish-eye, just some normal light leakage with this angle and direct light.
Thank you in advance!

Measurements: 13.47 X 9.56 X5.8mm
Depth: 61%
Table 62%
Thickness: Medium to slightly thick
Culet: Pointed
Symmetry, polish: Excellent

Do you mean bow tie? Def no fish eye here!

Thanks! I didn't know if it was bow-tie or fish-eye with what appears to be a bit of a dark circle right at the middle of the stone.

I think what you are seeing, or talking about, is the girdle reflection. It should not be a problem.

Do you have a link to the video for this stone so we can see how the center of the stone is looking?

Btw...we have a lab forum here

We can get this thread moved to the correct forum if you have any more questions.

The still photo is not of high enough quality to be at all definitive, but the bowtie here looks fairly typical. A high quality video would be more informative because you really need to see the virtual facet patterns in motion through a range of normal tilt angles.
Because the photo looks blurry and because it is a large stone and presumable CVD, you need to rule out any transparency issues. This growth method, because it does not rigidly constrain the diamond during growth, is subject to developing crystal strain and striation of the carbon latice. These atomic level defects are not reflected in the clarity grade unfortunately, and they can cause haziness and blurriness of the virtual facets.
The blurriness in this photo can simply be a result of the quality of the photo, but is always something to be aware of in CVD diamonds.
