Hi,

I have been diamond hunting for a while and that's how I found this awesome website. Now finally it's time to make a decision and I have found a couple stones but could not decide which one.

1. 1.200 E IF Round
Measurements: 6.80 x 6.84 x 4.18
Price: $16,049

Table %: 57.0
Depth %: 61.3

Culet: None
Fluorescence: None

I really like this stone so far, except the fact its l/w ratio is 1.00588

2. 1.26 E VVS1 Round

Stock number: LD03676174

Culet:None
Fluorescence:Medium Blue
Measurements: 6.92 x 6.99 x 4.29 mm

This is the biggest stone I can get on my budget, but l/w ratio is over 1.1 and crown angle is 35.5%

3. 1.23 E IF Round

Price: C$15,466

Cut: Ideal
Colour: E
Clarity: IF
Depth %:61.8%
Table %:58%

Every thing is good for this stone except the table is 58%, a littler over my standard of 57%, but it got good crown angle and pavillion angle. I am wondering how does this extra 1% would affect the shines of a diamond?

Opinions and advises needed, your help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you only looking at IF/VVS stones? You could get a much larger stone in your budget by going down to VS which will look exactly the same.

Thank you doublebouble,

The stone will be made to a ring. And I have relatively small hands that's why I am not looking into diamonds bigger than 1.3. But thank you for your comment. :)

I'd go for an F VS2, and save the money... upgrade your setting or your wedding band. But I don't get paying A LOT for something you can't see.

I'd get one of these two:

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.207-f-vs2-round-diamond-ags-bl-104067041019

Both are AGS0, best possible cut. Great vendor with nice policies (search reviews on here for BGD). Also you can see the stone (the actual stone is pictured) and they are both eyeclean and lovely. Please BGD has a great selection of really beautiful settings. Can't go wrong.

Incidentally table at 58 is fine. It's not about the table. Or any one measurement. It's about the angles and how they all work together.

You are kinda focusing on all the wrong things. You need more knowledge. Please go up the the "Knowledge" tab and go down to "advanced tutorial" under the drop downs. And from there you should read all the tabs listed.

Thank you doubledouble,

James Allen true hearts diamond looks absolutely gorgeous! I am just a little stubborn about the clarity level to be vvs1 or IF. I totally know it's not necessary but I cannot help it.

Thanks a lot. :)

Thanks Gypsy,

Brian Gavin is a great vendor and I love their heart and arrow diamonds. But I have specific requirements for color and clarity grade which I know its not necessary. They only have 1 round diamond (D VVS1) fit into my category and it's a little over my budget

Thank you for your advice. I will check the advanced tutorial. I wish I would figure out what's the exact relationship between these angle numbers :)

These are both AGS0.

I understand wanting a higher color. I do think insisting on a high clarity (above VS) is kind of silly- means you must compromise in other areas (size, color, or setting) for something you can't see at all.But regardless, be sure not to compromise on cut. Sparkle is so much more important than invisible inclusions.

Thanks doubledouble,

I like the 1.3 F vvs2 but it's kind out of my budget. I am currently looking into these two of the jamesallen diamonds. I guess I choose to compromise in size.

This one only provides GIA but the idealscope looks good. I am a little worried without seeing AGS

the idealscope of hearts is not as good as the first one

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.04-carat-e-color-vvs1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-73524
This one is a little small, AGS is a bit old so it doesn't have light performance map :(

Which one looks better?Help please ;)

Don't forget JA usually offers a Pricescope discount! That might bring the 1.3/E/VVS2 under $16k
