Complete new person here and confused like a new person should be.

I visited the mall amd felt like that wasn't helpful.

I'm looking for a princess cut in the .75-.99 range. My budget is about $3000.

Should I be looking for color down to H and clarity down to Sl1?

I'd like just a simple plain band/setting to put the stone in.

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I need the ring by next week.

A 1ct H SI1 Princess cut diamond from Whiteflash, from their super-ideal cut line called 'A Cut Above', will cost you $4500 or so:

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-3520087.htm

so you will not be able to get that size unless you drop in colour to perhaps a J or lower.

It looks like you will be able to get up to about 0.8ct in H SI1 but they don't have many variations in colour/clarity on their search tool at the moment:

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/search.aspx

(You'll need to go into the Advanced settings to select A Cut Above and Expert Selection stones.)

See what you like from the list and we can advise you re: the ASETscope and IdealScope images :)

EDIT: Check out their ring choices here :) http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/#/metals=white+gold&shapes=princess&category=14

I think this one is the cheapest / best value version that doesn't have the chunky prongs of the cheapest options :)

The online pickins for quality princesses in that range are oddly slim right now, esp. if you're in kind of a rush.

If you're open to a radiant, which is still a square with clipped corners, this one is really pretty and James Allen is having a 15% off sale on settings at the moment:

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/0.76-carat-h-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-839239

This one's a little under .75 but way under budget and very pretty:

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.70-carat-h-color-vs1-clarity-sku-964139

to be continued!

Some other safe choices:

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d...0.808-g-vs1-princess-diamond-ags-104084083012

(There are several more in the .70 range within budget from that vendor, those are just two.)

This one from Blue Nile looks like it may be nice:

http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD06120686?click_id=266599315 (copy and paste, for some reason just clicking the link doesn't work)

And there are a handful over at Whiteflash which OohShiny linked. Anything you see that you like?

I can't get the second one to link to anything but the front page, but the first one is to a GIA-graded stone the vendor is saying is 'very good' cut. IIRC GIA don't grade cut on anything but round diamonds, so you have no way of knowing if it really is well cut or not when judging on the certificate alone.

AGS, which grades the Whiteflash stones, does grade cut, so you know from the certificate if the cut and therefore the light performance is good.

WF also have the ASETscope and IdealScope images on the listing, so you can immediately assess what sort of performer it will be - I'm not sure if B2C offer that service upon request, I would have to ask others to confirm that, but without the ASET and IS images you have no real way of judging how it will perform.

Size is important for a lot of people ;)) but don't forget that cut is what gives the sparkle and fire that really makes a stone attractive. I and the vast majority of others (if not everybody) on this board would prioritise cut over the other Cs - it is better to have a killer performer in a smaller size or a lower colour or with a couple of small inclusions that can barely be seen with the naked eye, than have some big lump of rock that is just dead to look at, like a piece of glass!

FWIW, I would consider asking GOG if they can do you a video of a couple of their options - one of these has really excellent facet patterning (IMHO) with a nice balanced mix of contrast, and the other has what looks to be a very bright centre but could potentially suffer from low contrast. A video would enable you to judge for yourself, and would be an excellent educational experience as well!

BGD has a couple of options as well, but I find I can usually see the inclusions in their VS2 stones and even some of their VS1 stones (and I am a clarity freak  ) so personally am only really feeling these as potential options as clean but with good ASET/IS images:

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.714-g-vs1-princess-diamond-ags-104084083004

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.714-e-si1-princess-diamond-ags-104080595009

This one might be an option as well but does have an inclusion visible within the table:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.730-g-vs1-princess-diamond-ags-104078379007

but then the 0.8 posted earlier has a similar issue but will look that little bit bigger for only $400 more.

I appreciate that we are stretching your budget with some of these options :???: but there doesn't seem to be many in the H/VS2 spec you are looking for at the moment TBH, so you may have to take a small hit on size and go up in colour to get something with good light performance!

Ringwise, if you go with GOG then they might be able to do this band for a princess stone - you'd have to ask whether it's possible or if they have another good value option:
http://www.goodoldgold.com/engagement-rings/solitare-engagement-ring-7543

This might be your best value option from BGD if you go with them:

We really recommend against buying without at least a photo, but ideally some sort of measure of light return. I'm sure you'll find plenty of well-priced princess cuts, but they're probably not well cut. For example: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.90-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-sku-1774151

There are plenty of princesses to wade through at James Allen that would be nice enough, but without an ASET it'd be hard to tell for sure, and you'd need to wait for the images, etc.- not great if you need this ring this week.
