We have something in common! I have tried on that same ring from Whitehall with my FF. I really really loved it and the style. I lreally like some halo styles. There were several other styles we tried on in other stores as well that we both liked.

So, I REALLY like the one with the blue lab created stone (of course with a diamond) better than the Quest ring. Just my 2 cents!

Good luck!

I really think I want to do a custom jobber with the fake blue diamond ring. Everything proportionally the same but with a ~1.00 carat centerstone...What do you guys think? And if I want to do this who would be the jeweler to contact?

BTW, if I haven''t said this yet...This site and the people on it RULE! I think I have learned more on these forums, links, info pages etc in a couple of days than on any other webpage!

tlow, be careful or you might get hooked on this site like some of the rest of us!

Two people to contact for custom micropave would be Leon Mege and Maytal Hoftman. Maytal used to work for Beaudry and is now out on her own. Some of her work is pictured in the link below. Even though there is not a ring exactly like you''re wanting pictured, I''m sure she can make it. Her work looks perfect to me. You can email her a picture and she will give you a quote. I''m sure the same for Leon Mege.

(I take it back..the first ring pictured IS a round halo! You just don''t want a milgain edge or engraving on yours. But I''ll tell you, I love the one pictured!)

Tlow, I''d recommend going to Grimball Jewelers in Chapel Hill if you are anywhere near them. You can take a look at the Martin Flyer halo and they also have WONDERFUL custom jewelers on site that you can talk to and design any specific modifications that you like. They really are great and helpful, whether you want to go with the MF or custom...they do it all on-site. Kathie has helped me in the past and she really knows the selection and can work with you to make your dream ring. I''d go there so that I could talk to someone in person (that''s very important for me when designing custom work). It''s funny, I was reading another thread today and Grimball Jewelers was also recommended by another poster, so I feel even more comfortable suggesting you check there first.

Ya that Leon Mege one looks good too. As I stated earlier, I will be moving out to California in the next couple of months. I feel it would be better to buy from a reputable jeweler out there. Do you guys agree? However, I am willing to fly wherever to go and see this ring and purchase it so that is not a problem. I guess I am thinking more long term. And are there any reputable jewelers in Calif? Or should I not worry about it if I do have a custom ring and use one of the afore mentioned jewelers? Sorry this is kind of a redundant post, I guess I am thinking out loud :)

Nope, it is not easier to find a jeweler locally! We wouldn't all be on here if it was! The easiest thing is to find who makes what you like and then have it made and FedExed to you! But FYI, Maytal Hoftman is in CA, I think the LA area, and I think you should definitely get a quote from her. You'd obviously have to buy the diamond first and have the diamond sent to her.

I can't remember if we have said this yet or not, but Good Old Gold and WhiteFlash generally have the largest selection of hearts and arrows, excellent cut diamonds. WF has a large inventory of G-H color 1 ct. diamonds right now, as a matter of fact.

If you like the blue one, I think any of the vendors who do custom can make it for you. If you like a Leon Mege design, have Leon Mege make it.

I wouldn''t worry about where the ring comes from. Any nice local jeweler will be willing to look at it and make sure the prongs are tight, etc. Larger repairs often have to be sent back to the original manufacturer, so no matter where you are located that would involve shipping the ring. For example, my BF purchased a stone from Grimball Jewelers in NC that is currently being set by Michael Bondanza in NY through Pearlman''s in MI. The thought of having jewelery shipped used to really freak me out, but after seeing how safe, easy, and often it is done these days, my mind has been set at ease. We will be living in DC and none of those jewelers are close, but I''m not concerned about it at all.

Diamondseeker...what you say make sense. Also, I too like the one with the fake blue diamond better. Although the Leon Mege one is a close second. I think I will take the gf ring shopping another time and she if I can get a sense if she could choose between the suttle differences of the two rings. Also, I may be turned on to the blue ring becuase it would have to be custom made. I guess I feel there is something unique about that. Yes/No?

With that said....let''s take a vote...Who should make the custom ring??? It looks to me like Leon Mege speciliazes in making micropave rings, however, the quest ring earlier in the post looks nicely done as well, and I assume they know what they are doing based on all the happy people with their rings on the forum.

Just throwing things at you.

This one is set too high off the halo?

Because I'm a little confused. If you don't want any air space between the stone and the halo, it will have to be bezel set, not prong set. But you don't want any metal betweel the stone and the halo? This is difficult to acheive, as the bezel that is holding the stone will then have to be paved.

The blue ring does have air space, because it is prong set.

JulieN, those are both really nice rings as well. I do agree they are set a little bit too high...but again maybe a custom jobber as a hybrid of a couple of rings. I think we are getting close to the point of splitting hairs and I need to take her out and figure out if she actually does have a preference of these smalller details.

I''d get quotes from Leon Mege, Maytal Hoftman, and Quest. See who you like working with. They are all capable of making the ring.

I just came across this setting and immediately moved to post it here! I think this is exactly what you are asking for.

It is made by Fusaro and called the Ridotta Solitaire. I think if you go to their site you can find a vendor. Good luck!

Here is one I saw at Charleston Alexander in Maryland, that reminds me of what you're looking for. I guess the location is not great for you. Wish I could recall for sure, but somehow I think it might have been an A Jaffe? Of course you probably don't want the pink halo, but I wouldn't be surprised if they could do it in white.

ETA: It IS an A. Jaffe.
