During my setting search I did email Maytal Hoftman does custom settings and used to work for Beaudry. She does beautiful work. Since there are others here who are searching for settings, I thought I''d post the pictures she sent me. She obviously can do other styles. These are just a sample. I haven''t gotten back with her simply because I don''t know what I want. But she was very nice. Her contact info: maytaljewels at gmail.com.

No, no website. You just have to email her. She responded the same day I emailed her. It was just that I didn't know what I wanted, so we didn't get any farther in the process at that time.

ETA: I thought about Windowshopper when I saw the emerald setting. I think that is a beautiful and elegant setting.

Maytal is making me a ring as we speak. It will look like the yellow oval you posted except that it will be a round white diamond with pink diamonds set into the halo in rose gold. I''m trying to decide whether to have her do any engraving on the shank. I''m not sure, I may just leave it plain because I like the clean look. I got the diamond from Whiteflash and had it sent to Rockdoc (who was great by the way) and he sent it on to Maytal. She said she hopes to have the finsihed ring to me by the end of August.

Oh wow, please add a photo to this thread once it comes as well as posting in the Show me the Ring forum!!! That will be absolutely gorgeous! I vote for engraving on the sides because that polished platinum is going to get very scratched up in no time flat. That''s one thing that makes the engraving really appeal to me, aside from the fact that it is beautiful.

How exciting, Cind!

I thought I''d include qqq''s incredible Royal Asscher...maybe a little like yours, Cind!

DS, Maytal said she could do some "sectional engraving" on the sides so I may have her do that. She said that is the last thing so I have time to decide.

Widget, I had seen qqq''s ring after doing a search on Maytal. Mine will be similar, but the one he had made for his fiance is very elaborate as far as the engraving and while I liked it, it is a bit too ornate for me. But otherwise, it will look a lot like that I suspect.

I will definitely post pics when I get it.

Gosh, that is a magnificent ring, Widget! Thanks for adding that to the thread! Maytal is certainly an artist, and I''d like people to see her work. Wish I could figure out what I want!

These settings are just beautiful DS, but they are such a departure from what you''ve been saying that you want. Personally while quite lovely I just don''t see these designs as "classic". You know however that I will be thrilled for you with whatever you decide!

Sundial, my lifestyle is pretty casual, so you''re right that I might have to go with a more simple setting. I still love to look at these beautiful designs, though!

I love Maytal''s eye candy too, particularly the rose gold and pink diamonds on qqq''s ring. But IMO I think you have to be passionately, deeply in love with that type of setting and that particular look if you''re going to commit to it. It''s such a specific, heavily ornate look that one could easily tire of over time if you''re not head-over-heels crazy about it. I was at Tiffany today with Wallermama and was struck by how eternal and beautiful their knife-edge solitaire is. I found myself lingering over those rings more than any other style. There''s just something about a glittering fireball suspended above a delicate, polished band of platinum that takes my breath away!

I know Maytal''s specialty is in detailed pave work but maybe you could combine the best of both worlds and have her make you something like a solitaire ring with thin platinum shank, with the stone set in a diamond pave tulip-head basket? I''m just talking off the top of my head but if you like both the clean classic look AND you have a soft spot for Maytal''s work, I''m sure she could come up with something in-between for you.

Kristy, indeed Maytal has told me that she can and does make very simple solitaires as well as more elaborate designs like these. She has shown me her more elaborate work just to show her abilities. I agree that lifestyle does need to influence our choice of settings. I told someone on another thread that I thought your new setting was the way I''d like a large stone set as opposed to having a halo. It is elegant, very tasteful, and beautiful.

I have a couple more pictures to post, too!

I had a knife edge solitaire in white gold for years and liked it very much. It was classic. Now, however, I just want something very unique. I haven''t seen anyone where I live with a halo which is funny since they''re so popular now. And I definitely haven''t seen any halos in rose gold with pink diamonds. I am the type person as far as my jewelry is concerned that likes to have different things. Since this is an upgrade, I considered having a solitaire again or maybe a center diamond with pave on the shank and nothing else. But that look I do seem to see everywhere (not that it isn''t pretty) and I just didn''t want my ring to look like everyone else''s. It''s such a hard decison though because there are so many beautiful settings out there.

Hello:

I tried contacting at maytaljewels and it was returned. The rings posted here are just wonderful.
I would like to see if she could make something I had in mind.

How is your search going?

Hi, I emailed her just today. That is the correct address. Maybe the server was down or something odd like that. Try again and let me know if it goes through. (If you don't mind, though, please edit your post to delete her full email address. There are spammers who electronically search webpages for email addresses which is why it is best to post them like this):

maytaljewels at gmail.com

I honestly feel like the people who have her make a ring now will get a real bargain. It appears to me she is as good as the big names and is on her way to being more well known. Now is a really good time to get her to make a ring. She has told me she is willing to make more simple rings as well. I just haven't decided what I want. It's a big decision and I just don't have access to look at many settings to get ideas.

Please, please Mrs. T do let us know what you decide!!!

I know what you mean; it is hard because whatever style we pick, there will be half a dozen or more settings that we would have loved.

In my search I came across a pink halo (at Charleston Alexander), and I must admit it was stunning! Here is a picture, which, as so often is the case, doesn't do it justice at all.

ETA: Sorry pic was so big...

Diamondseeker:

I edited as suggested. Sorry.
I''m going to try writing again.

Saw this ring and started to rethink my entire upgrade project! This seems just right for an upgrade.

I haven''t seen too many Pave type settings in person. I worry that the stones don''t sparkle or they are hard to keep sparkly. I tried on a Simon G "trois" (I think thats the spelling).
Thats two micro-pave eternity bands, and an eternity ering with 2ct diamond. The bands were tiny! But it looked great on my hand and the contrast of the Pave and the Diamond made the diamond stand out. Very tiny stones but it was sparkly. I just can''t imagine it staying shiny if your''re like me and don''t have a cleaning girl.

Hopefully going to see some things in NYC real soon. Just a little busy rignt now with the kids.

If I get anywhere I will try to learn how to post pictures but I think it''s going to take a while for me to decide. I haven''t even purchased the diamond yet!

Mrs. T, I have no doubt that Maytal could make the kind of ring you have pictured. I am going to look at more settings this week to see if I could find something for her to make for me as well. I''m sure she''ll be glad to hear from you!

I should be getting my ring tomorrow that Maytal made for me. The diamond is a 1.046 ACA from Whiteflash. Rockdoc did the appraisal for me and sent me these pictures.

Edit: Well, don't know what I'm doing wrong-can't seem to post the pictures.
