Help me decide?

So, I have found my love of 4 main ovals. But unfortunately I’m stuck between two options.

1. 3.51 12.61mm stunner
This one is a WONDERFUL size, maybe a tiny bit too big but I’m getting used to it. great ASET, but has some light loss in the middle bow tie. Bolder flashes of fire from the chunkier facets. Appears a bit darker but has pretty contrast

2. A 3.02 12.07mm
Absolutely great cut, same ASET performance, little to no bow tie in the middle and faces up whiter. But maybe a touch too small…


Do I:

a. Keep the first one knowing the bigger size is what I want even though the cut isn’t as great.

B. Keep the second one because the cut isn’t better and the size difference is minimal, the smaller size is still plenty big and I’ll get used to it.

C. Hold out for a perfect sized 4 main (ideally 12.4-12.5mm) … but I’ve already ordered so many at this point and just want to get started on the setting.

When they get set, will it look bigger or smaller because the band will be thicker than this try on band?

I’m going crazy and any opinions are welcome

Personally, I would wait for the right one. There will be the right one for you! No point settling now if you know the size is going to bug you. Then you will end up upgrading for size anyway.

Just wait. You are not 100% happy with either. But if I were forced to choose between these two I would choose the smaller one.

I would probably hold out to the one that speaks to you- you have a great eye and instinct with these ovals…I do like the 3.51 size on your hand - it pops without being overdone but agree 3.02 seem to perform a little bit better than the 3.51 in the video.
I get the size aspect too- but think you’re good if you wanted a slightly larger one too. Maybe you can check out amazon for dummy setting to get an idea of how it would look.

Argh, I appreciate it I feel you are all likely right. I just can’t unsee the dead spot in the middle of the larger one now that I’ve seen a really well cut 4 main.

I am going to return the 3.51, keep the 3.02 for now as I have a longer return window on it - and then keep an eye out for one with my ideal size. It’s tough because 4 mains are so hard to find, and with exactly the right size and l/w ratio makes them harder to come by. But if I end up having to keep the small one it wouldn’t be the worst as it is truly gorgeous. Gives me a 30 day timeline to figure it out I suppose. Thanks everyone
