Hi all, first time poster.

I just purchased a .48 G VS2 Round Brilliant diamond that I am quite pleased with from a local jeweler. The diamond is very nice geometrically, excellent symmetry, 56% table, 61% depth, it's a quality rock. There are two things that are unique about it though, and I was hoping some of you guys could help me figure them out.

First, the diamond has a unique cut pattern to it. When the jeweler and I ordered it, we looked at the GIA report and saw that it had a full cut diagram, which is sort of unique for a diamond of this size. The pavillion seems to have twice the number of facets cut into it. I quite like it, it makes the diamond sparkle like crazy, but I was wondering if any of you had seen this before. The original report is a bit dated, from 2006, so maybe this is a brand name cut of a designer? I really have no idea, do any of you have any guesses? Here is a screenshot of the diagram:

Second, the certificate says that the diamond has the letters BBS inscribed into it beside the cert. number. Does anyone have any idea what that could mean?

Like I said, I am very happy with the stone, I'm just trying to piece together some of the details of this little guy.

Thank you in advance for any information.

I think that you may be on to something there. The cert. makes no mention of the star or facet numbers though, maybe because of the stone's size.
