Help! Engagment Diamond with best sparkle

I would go with the 1.38 I/VS2 all four are great and will look lovely and this one has the largest face up.

All are great choices. To help narrow it down what is most important to you...color, clarity, size and in what order?

I would say the H unless you know and are sure she could deal with some possible ivory tones on the I. Should face up white, but you might see a little ivory from the sides.

What is the setting?

Color then Clarity. Size plays a role but it's hard to say where it lands in the order. Around the size of what I have listed would be fine.

The setting will have 3 - 1/8# caret stones on each side of the main stone in white gold. I am thinking about going Moissanite for the setting stones.

I wouldn't recommend mixing moissanite and diamond in one ring, especially if the main stone is diamond. There isn't much price difference for melee size stones between diamkbd and moissanite, so it doesn't do you any good.

Definitely the H/SI1. Especially if you list color above clarity in your order of importance. Judging by the video, the H/SI1 looks very clean for an SI1.

I agree with this. I don't really see the point of using moissanite for melee stones. A lot of people go with a moissanite center if they want a very large center stone, as the cost difference is substantial above 1 carat. But you're not going to be saving much money in the grand scheme of things by going with moissanite melee, so I wouldn't take the risk of the stones not matching or looking weird for the minimal cost savings.

If color is the 1st important factor I would go with the H.

My local jeweler quoted a band with moissanite stones $1,000 cheaper than real diamonds. She showed me moissanite and diamonds next to each other and I couldn't tell a difference. In my mind the smaller stones were less important which is why I was leaning towards saving some coin here.

Have you looked for other quotes for a similar setting from shops like David Klass or EVS Designs? I'm guessing they could probably make a setting with real diamond melee for about the same price as your local jeweler quoted you for moissanite. ;-)

Also, be aware that how stones look under jewelry store lights is not necessarily how they will look in everyday situations. While I agree that the difference between moissanite and diamond will be less noticeable in small stones, it may still be noticeable.

The H SI1 is what I would recommend. I agree with the others and would get diamond melee.

I'd go with the H SI1 - it's the second largest and I prefer to pay for things I can see so I don't mind sacrificing clarity for higher color as long as the stone is eye clean which this definitely seems like it is.

I haven't looked at those sites but I have looked around at a few others and can't really find what she wants. She wants this made but with only 3 stones on each side. Each stone is around 1/8 caret. I have tried to talk her into more prongs for the melee but she is set on having the 2 shared prongs for each.

Both EVS and DK are custom jewelers, meaning they can cast just about any setting you want. Just send them a verbal description of what you want and attach a few photos and they should be able to provide you with a CAD rendition and a quote fairly quickly. Definitely worth persuing quotes from them prior to going forward with your local jeweler. :)

Ditto TS above...get a quote from DK. Tell your GF that she is going to need to baby it since its only got 2 prongs holding each stone in.
I would recommend more but I see you've already tried.

Edit...call WF, have them pull the three stones and tell you what the see. Since they have them there
they can do a compare and contrast for you. They can also provide you a picture with all three stones
together so you do a little better comparison yourself. You'll be able to check out any color/size difference.
Please post the pic...may help us to help you narrow it down some.

If color is your thing, go for the H. Also, make sure the melee matches whatever center stone color you choose.

I agree with the others that I wouldn't mix natural diamonds and mossianite. Plus, that $1,000 price difference sounds fishy. I'd definitely consider having WF, DK or someone else custom make you a setting instead.

While not exactly what you described, WF has something similar. Cost is around $1,800 as-is. You could reduce side stones as you see fit, and I'd probably clean up the head design a little too. But I think the top down view is very awesome.

Here is another similar style. The melee stone isn't as pronounced as the above, but I think it actually has a nicer side profile and head. I'd try to marry the top view of the above with the side/profile view of this particular setting. This one is about $2,200.

Thanks everyone for the help! I ended up purchasing the 1.35 SI1-H. WF is working on a custom setting quote and I have submitted inquiries to EVS and DK.
