Hi All!

I’m a long time lurker but first time to post something. I am looking at upgrading my engagement ring from a 0.60 to a 1 carat princess cut diamond (just love this cut!) I have managed to find two stones that I think are nice and would be suitable but need help with choosing which one. I’m not fussed about color. Color G-I is okay with me as my ering is yellow gold. I’m after an ideal cut but not true hearts as that’s what my budget allows and then at least VS2 clarity. Looking to spend 3000-4000$.

Here are the stones:

Diamond 1. I VVS2
Diamond 2. H VS2

Here are the GIA Certificates..

I know you get asked about this a lot but hoping you don’t get sick of helping people like me make this special purchase!

Thanks in advance everyone!

@AV_ How do you pick out the higher crowns? The diamonds look amazing! I like the F and G. The fluorescence doesn’t affect the clarity of the diamond? I mean the diamond appearing hazy? Would you go more for the look of the diamond even if grading report shows only good symmetry etc?

On the 'Comparison' page at Blue Nile, I stop the videos of the stones when the table is up, so I can get a view of crown height. Many princess cuts look as if they do not have ANY crown at all; it is not impossible to have an interesting stone like that, but a substantial crown is just a much safer bet for 'interesting' (ie. play bright white & some black specks throughout the stone).

The fluorescence doesn’t affect the clarity of the diamond? I mean the diamond appearing hazy?

Every now & then someone says that they are looking at a diamond hazy from fluorescence... I love 'Fancy White' diamonds & it is DARN difficult to come accross beautifully foggy diamonds, with or without fluorescence - they must be 1% of 1% & at least 'Strong' (-ly fluorescent) in GIA terms.

GIA 'Medium' fluorescence does something subtle & worth seeing, by my taste...

YES!

I might pick the F despite the fact that G is slightly bigger; the size difference is not allot & F seems brighter from this side of the screen. In person, things might look somewhat different ,( - the 2D delusion gets me all the time...
