Hello, everyone! I'm Amanda!

I've always wanted to have my very own diamond ring, and I've decided to go for it and create one! (Well, have a jeweler create one, haha.) To start off, I'm looking for a pear-shaped diamond around three-quarters of a carat, in "H" or "I" color and with VS2/VS1 clarity. My budget is around $2,000, max.

Are my parameters good? Do I need to up any of them? It's important to me that the diamond be sparkly and eye-clean, but not necessarily super high quality, fetching thousands and thousands of dollars.

Also, what are some of the best places to buy a loose diamond? (Or should I do something like JamesAllen.com, where I can choose the diamond and the setting together and buy it all in one go?)

Thank you in advance for your help! I'm totally new at this, but I'm excited to start this awesome journey and make my very biggest dream come true!

Fancy shapes are more complex than RBs, but hopefully some experts can chime in soon! Do you know how color sensitive you are, and if I color will work for you?

It is generally recommended to buy the diamond and the setting together at one place.
JameAllen is a good place to start. I-H VS is good. I suggest you to include SI1 and VVS as well. In that carat range, VVS is not necessarily overly expensive in comparison with VS, and SI1 can be eye-clean offer a good deal.

Set your parameters (color, carat, clarity, budget) and go thru JA's inventory. Pick 2 stones you like and provide us with the links. We will comment, and tell you everything that is wrong with them, and let you know what to look for, and possibly find you better options.
