Hello everyone

So after 2 months of researching, I finally made up my mind on commit to getting my diamond online and in particular, go with Whiteflash ACA line. I'm currently in the process of obtaining this particular diamond below, which were listed for $10,390

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4060797.htm

I just want to have your expert opinion on my diamond choice. Did I pick out a good diamond in regard to price ? . Or should I sacrifice clarity/color grade in exchange for a bigger size diamond ? In particular, these three diamonds:

I personally would drop to VS2/SI1 clarity (as long as it's eye clean), and to H/I color. Up to you (of course), but the firdf stone seems unnecessarily high clarity and color so you're sacrificing a lot of size, which wouldnt be my preference.

Yes, there is a lot of difference between an F and an I color stone. Are you more concerned with size, color or clarity? You probably need to narrow down your criteria in order to choose between all of these stones.

This is one of those things that no one can really decide for you, imo.

Obviously, if you want to get a bigger diamond, you can go down in colour and/or clarity.

But what does your mind feel comfortable with? If you loooove the idea of F VVS2, (also part of the Collection Series, lol ... just for that extra mind massage) then it’s good. If you feel comfortable going down in colour and/or clarity, then maybe it’s overkill for you and you would rather have more size. Colour is easier to see than clarity, assuming eye-clean. Also some people are more colour sensitive and colour intolerant. What is your mind-clean diamond?

In regard to any of the c’s ... you’re going with Whiteflash, so you can upgrade at any time. I would expect that you’ve done some homework and that you have your reasons for picking F VVS2. I say this as someone thrilled with overkill, lol. Given that, I would say, go with the one your heart wants!

Keep in mind that for most people, cut is the most important and size is the next. I find most people will happily compromise (and most of the time it’s not even a compromise) on colour and/or clarity for a bigger diamond.

But ... in the end ... no one can decide this one but you! =)2

Thank you so much for your input and advice everyone

Well, my gf is a perfectionist but then she is also a girl, and her friends seem to implant into her mind that a bigger rock is a better buy :naughty: . Her bigger criteria in the perfectionist mindset is that the eye of the diamond cant have any imperfection mark on it

For me, also a perfectionist, I would personally prefer a high quality rock over size. My mentality is that if a diamond cant shine and sparkle well, then no matter how big it is, it is always a dull and not as valuable compare to a smaller one but full of fiery passion.

So I guess to answer your questions, these are my concern rank: Cut >> Clarity (need a clean diamond eye with almost zero mark of imperfection) >> Color >> Size

This is why I decided to go for Whiteflash ACA line since base on reviews from you guys here on pricescope, their ACA line seem to be very consistent with picking out the best cut

Well I think the diamond you chose is gorgeous and I also like a "mind clean" diamond but I have to be honest, I think that the H/VSI 1.32 diamond is also a very nice diamond and you get quite a bit of size at around 0.6mm bigger, being over 7mm. Seems like a good balance with size and color. Obviously they are all a great cut being ACAs. I recently got a H/VVS1, I was initially concerned about that color but it is very white in person. As said above, it comes down your personal preference and color sensitivity. All are great stones and all are great cuts. Good luck with your choice.

I also think F to I might be too far of a jump. Love this stone that @ac117 posted. You've already picked an excellent cut (ACA...AGS000, H&A).
I would call and ask WF for a picture of the F, G, H and larger I all together. That way you can see the size difference and color difference in
one picture. From what you're saying, I think the G would be a good direction to go in. Still bright white but gives you that extra size.

Also, WF has one of the easiest upgrade policies if you and your wife ever decide you'd like to go bigger (down the road). Many PSers have
taken advantage of their upgrade policy (some several times :P2).

Here is a relative size difference between the F and G on a size 6 finger with a 2mm shank.
Also, when it gets down to what people really notice, it tends to be size as long as you are staying
close in the color range (like F to G). As far as clarity goes, if it is eye-clean, people that view the
stone wont know if its a VVS1 or an SI. Being a perfectionist, it comes down to what you can accept mentally.
Personally, I think most girls would appreciate the size upgrade.

You may prefer color and clarity over size but what does she prefer? In the US, women often prefer size. Nothing wrong with that.
