Long-time lurker, first time poster here! My boyfriend and I are currently in the market for an engagement ring and boy, we had no idea how overwhelming choosing the "perfect diamond" is! Nonetheless, we're enjoying the experience and learning a lot, especially from reading articles and advice we find on here! So thank you all for sharing your great wisdom with those of us who are still learning.
With that said, we are currently looking for an 1.5-2.5 carat (closer to 2) oval with D-J coloring with fire and sparkle and is flawless (to the eye). Our budget for the diamond is $10,000 with a smidgen of wiggle room. We don't have a timeline for when we need the diamond but our plan is to get engaged sometime next year and it would just be great if we could get an idea of what we're up against. Also, I know that upgrades are common (my mother's had 3!) but I would truly love for this ring to be my forever diamond (as idealistic as that sounds).
With that said, I've managed to find a few that I would love to get your opinions on and also get your advice on getting the most bang for our buck. I'd hate for us to keep searching and focusing on the wrong thing! So without further ado, here they are:
