Have a Quest appt.- suggestions?

I have an appointment with Quest Jewelers soon and need setting suggestions! It''s for a 1 carat princess cut diamond and must be platinum. My budget is $1500 with the tax. I love the trellis/x-prong setting but would like other suggestions!

hi Carrie! what do you have in mind? Still thinking X prong? I can still vouch for it - yep it''s kinda pricey for a solitaire but a year later I;m still so happy with mine! Good luck and have fun at Quest!!

Thanks Gail! You know I''ve admired your ring for ages along with the Tiffany Lucida. I''ve been saving pictures from PriceScope to print out to show Quest but the ring I keep coming back to is the x-prong/trellis setting. Quest''s x-prong is actually the least expensive one I''ve seen so far. I thought maybe a halo but I''m having a marquis citrine haloed by Quest next year as a RHR. And I really don''t want 2 halo rings. I''d like sidestones but I''m so picky about them... so it won''t be a surprise if I post pictures of an x-prong later this month, lol. Plus it has to go with my plain wedding band and my princess channel band as well, which limits my options.

Did I read that you were getting a different anniversary band??

Or channel set princesses? I think that looks good with a plain band, and will obviously match your wedding band.

Thanks for the suggestion! I am considering trillons, infact The Facets Collection has a gorgeous trillons setting on their site! I need to try it on before I could decide though. I''ve searched PS for other rings and that''s definitely on my "to try" list!

I love 3 stones, but 3 stone princesses aren''t "really" my thing, unless the sidestones are significantly smaller than the center. I just love it to be the star!!

Oohhhh, can I give you a piece of advice? You and I seem to be living in parallel diamond ring setting drama universes. I would avoid the princess with the trillions, and the 3 stone princess ring, as its very hard to find a nice band that looks ok next to it.

The 3 stone princess trellis does look pretty good with a 5 stone trellis matching band, but that's gonna jack up your budget a bit.

I'd go with the Vatche X prong so you can use your current wedding band.

I had a princess with the trillions, and I hated it...that's what I reset from to my current ring. I have pics if you like. If you do go with this ring, you may want to consider using small trillions..I used 4mm ones (.22 carats each) and they were way too overpowering for my centerstone. BBB has a nice princess & the trillions are .18 tw (.09 each) and it looked much better.

I'm a stickler on balance & I made all sorts of mistakes, so if you want to know what not to do from a kindred soul... you can ask me.
