Has anyone ever seen a FireMark Princess Cut stone?

The quick backstory: The first trip with the gf to the jewelry store was to a local Jared's. She had no clue what she wanted so they showed her everything, and she wound up picking out the Solasfera as what she liked best. Definitely wants a princess cut as well. OK, that tells me I need to look for a premium cut diamond, but I'm trying to look at other options besides Solasfera as well since there seem to be a million "fancy" cuts out there, all of which claim that they're the best.

Anyway, I have no way of seeing a FireMark next to a Solasfera since no store I can find sells both. I know how to read the GIA, GemEx, etc. reports...but in spending this much money, I just have a hard time without seeing them side by side, which again I can't do. So, anyone see a FireMark up close and personal who can provide information? Specifically, how it compares to a Solasfera in terms of fire and the such? Before I drive 3 hours to go look at one, I want to make sure its worth my while. It's tough finding a lot of info about these online.

Thanks!

I have not seen a FireMark, nor do I know the price range. Sorry!

What I can do is point you to some other AGS ideal princess cuts. Check these out:

Whiteflash ACA: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/search.aspx - change the filters to your desired combination of the 4 Cs and pick one of the "A Cut Above" diamonds. Example: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2517150.htm

Good Old Gold Signature: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamondResults.php?shape=256&optSym=3&inHouse=3&resultsColumns=268435535

GOG also sells Solasferas: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamondResults.php?shape=256&optSym=16&inHouse=3&resultsColumns=268435535

Wow, two spam posts in a single thread. Kudos, Firemark.

A Firemark diamond will have a lot more dispersion, FIre, than an non-engraved diamond. It does not become cloudy or less brilliant, but because of the diffraction created by this nano-etching, the diamond does have a different look to it which some people are going to really like and others may prefer it without. It is a legitimate and long lasting technique and I see nothing at all wrong about it.

I believe you could buy a Solasfera stone and arrange to have it etched by Firemark if the seller would be cooperative. Why not contact Firemark and find out who currently retails their treated diamonds and go see a few so you will know how they look and how different you feel they are. It is a difference, more than just a subtle one, but not totally different or weird.

For sure, check them out and then you can make a decision based on facts and not sales pitches.

The Solasfera is consistent in quality while the Firemark isn't. Just like how inconsistent the Firemarks for rounds are, there isn't nothing much spectacular about that line of stones apart from the branding and etched mark.

Hi my previous post got mistakenly marked as Spam.

The jeweler I worked through here in Southern California had a FireMark case. I didn't get one or really have much background, but if you're in the area and interested in seeing one in real life, I can give you the name. I was very happy with the service and they sold me a very well cut round brilliant. Not sure if they have Solasferas though.

Oldminer: So these branded stones, are they actually CUT differently (seems like Solasferas have more "facets" than traditional round brilliants)? What are these micro-etchings, done after the initial cutting?

Nano- etching? So... little lines that catch the light? Are they designed to act like mini-facets?

Those sound pretty neat. I watched a YouTube video of them they looked pretty too.

I understand Firemark will etch a diamond you own and I imagine they will also be offering their own ideal-cut stones through dealers. As far as I know, it is a treatment, not a diamond brand, but it certainly could be both. The enhancement is the creation of what amounts to small area of diffraction grating on the pavilion which increase dispersion visible from the top. It not like faceting, but nano-etched parallel lines in the extreme outer surface of the pavilion. You cannot detect these lines from the top view and it is not easy to find them with 10x examining the pavilion until you know what to look for.
