Hi everyone,
First off thanks for all the information and everything, great site, I finally decided on whiteflash and got this 1.28 J VS1 diamond. Hopefully my J looks as good as some of those beauties from that other post.

diamond

This is for a surprise engagement ring, and I need help choosing a setting, definitely could use some input. I am the classic bf who doesn''t notice what my gf likes to wear etc, and knows less about jewelry

. Would also like to stick with whiteflash for the setting. My price range is ~1000-1500 but would like to err on the low end.

Traci at WF (who has been great) has recommended

http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/-Flush-Fit--Diamond-Ring_1063.htm
http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/The--Legato--with-Micro-Pave_1071.htm
http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/Diamonds-for-an-Eternity--3-4-_1070.htm

My gf is also somewhat younger ~25 so I want a ring that is hip, and not too flashy. Could I get some opinions on the pros and cons of these settings, what you would choose, and if there are any other options you would go with.

Thanks in advance!

I love setting no. 3!!! Congrats; what a sweet guy you are!

I like 3 because it seems like the stone wouldn't catch on things as much as no. 4.

Well done on your choice of diamond! I almost bought that one!! I ended up going for a 1.03ct instead. Its going to be wonderful!!!

I am already thinking of my next upgrade and I will probably go for a tiffany solitaire... so thats the one I opt for... #1

wow, alot of legato replies, the eternity does seem like it might catch on things, not as flush as the pave.

Can the legato pave be resized? I am basically taking one of her rings and putting it up to the blue nile ring sizer, so im unsure of the ring finger size.

I''m not positive, but it looks as though the Legato is NOT a full eternity pave band - thus, being easily resized. It appears this way from the picture....maybe some with a Legato or some with knowledge (more helpful than my own) can chime in. I''m sure the WF associate can also answer that question in a matter of seconds!

Found the following thread ... This should answer some of your questions, I think. Can pave be resized?

Absolutely, without a doubt, the legato micro-pave.

SO pretty and on trend.

She''ll love it!

Do you want diamonds on the band or not? Of the 3 with diamonds, I like the Legato best. However, I prefer the beautiful Legato head with the simple Sleek Line solitaire: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-Legato--Sleek-Line_1118.htm#

I also love these 2 solitaires from Whiteflash:

http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-W-Prong--Solitaire-by-WF_741.htm

I find them more interesting than the Tiffany style solitaire, but everyone has different taste.

I personally love the Legato you posted, but if you really have no idea what she likes or wants I would consider getting something simple and inexpensive and letting her choose her own setting later. Here is one from WF that is only $195 in WG.
http://www.whiteflash.com/golden-wardrobe/Gold_Details.aspx?ItemCode=ST6PW&CategID=13#

If you don''t want to do that, I would try to get some clues on what style she likes. A lot of women her age love pave, but some think it''s too "old" looking. It is SO hard to choose without any clues, because so many settings are so pretty! Try to notice what other jewelry she has, what her friends have, what she seems drawn to...little clues can add up.

Either #2 or #3. Both would look good with diamond bands.

If you are going for the legato; I would make sure it fits. You don''t want to resize.
