so my now fiance and i returned from vegas. i must say for anyone going- go check out the wynne hotel''s shoppes. AWESOME jewelry!! best we saw in vegas!! anyway we pasted Graff and i asked if we could take pics of the diamonds in the showcases facing the walkway. they said sure. the diamonds were unreal!!! so i thought i''d share!

(funny side note- i was so excited that i got to take these pics so that i could share here on PS. i thought it just made my trip-until, that is, i got my own sparkly there in vegas! what a surprise!!)

first up 30.10 carat emerald.

Yeah, I agree. Those humongous honkers are great fun to look at, but I wouldn''t want one for myself. Ostentatious and tasteless, as far as I''m concerned.

A nice six or seven carat asscher, on the otherhand, I could live with!

Second that... Big diamonds are not to be liked or disliked - it is more a concentrated pile of money than artistic thing to be enjoyed for its looks.

Those can only be ''good'' together with everything they come along with by implication. Aren''t they meant to sit in a vault (with or without the wearer) anyway?

Exactly. I agree with Valeria too, about ''em being "vault-dwellers". When they get too big, it''s just like an ice cube or something. Not nearly as sparkly and lovely as 1ct, 2ct, maybe up to 5ct. After that = zzzzzzzzzzzzz

However, that 1 ct fancy pink diamond for 96K over on cherrypicked. I''ll take 10.

interesting points...at certain sizes they may become more sculpture than adornment.

lol @ money concentrate. you may be right.. also one might argue that all diamonds are like that regardless of size. it''s only relative to where you''re observing.

these do signify an amazing type of life.

Is there actually a difference(decrease??) in performance in the 7ct+ range?

I did read somewhere that to appreciate the giants more distance is required. So wearing it on the hand would be too close for a pleasing effect. I suppose you'd have to hire someone to wear it & hover several feet away! LOL!
