). Can''t wait to see more pics and hand shots.

Congrats, sparkle.castle! Your ring is absolutely stunning...probably my dream combination of stone and setting

Can''t wait to see the hand shots!

I am absolutely floored by this piece! I''m a LIW & had my heart set on a Verragio, but this has seriously made me reconsider. I can''t figure out how to PM you... I really wanted to ask about the price of your stone, if you might possibly feel comfortable sharing. If you can find a way to PM me, I would appreciate it so very much!!

Stunning all around!!! You are one lucky lady!!!

I very much appreciate all of your lovely comments. I am in love with how the ring turned out. It actually exceeds my expectations. The photos I posted are are wonderful, but they do not do it justice; it is even more beautiful in person. The Torchiere was the only setting I kept coming back to over and over; I always found something I didn''t like in other settings. As far as the stone goes...I was originally looking at antique cushions and then Jonathan''s cushions popped up on here...it was love at first sight. As I said in my first post, if it were not for this forum, this ring would not exist. The wealth of knowledge you can find on here amazes me (I love researching things). Thank you all!

Now, for the question/answer round:

it says (or used to say) on Mark''s website that there are no 4 prong versions of his 6 prong settings so did he create cads etc for this or did he just make it without showing you any designs etc, if you don''t mind me asking?
He did indeed create CADs for my setting. Although it is a "modification" of something that already exists, the head had to be completely built from scratch. Now that Mark has created a four prong Petite Torchiere, I *believe* it will be easier for him to reproduce, if someone were to request one. (That''s what I understood from how he explained it to me.) If anyone is seriously interested, I would suggest asking Mark (fantastic guy!). I will attach the CADs in the next post in case you are interested in seeing them. As you will see, they were created with a generic cushion at the outer dimensions of my stone.

Breathtaking!!

Mark did a beautiful job! Your cushion seems very white for a J.

Wow!!!
I know, right?! I had reserved an H. Imagine my surprise when I saw this J and fell in love. It faces up quite white...on my hand the H and the J looked the same face-up. When you look at it from the side, you can definitely see the color.

Thank you littlemissmango. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you are not able to PM on this forum. Have you looked at Good Old Gold''s page? Click me! That will give you a good idea of how the pricing runs. It really depends on the size, color and clarity. As you go larger/higher, so does the price!

I hope I didn''t miss anyone! Hand shots when the proposal happens, I promise.
P.S. It''s nice to be able to share this with all of you because it is still a secret to our families/friends!

Absolutely stunning! Your ring is just gorgeous!

It''s so cool you have the very first 4 prong Torchiere. Please come back and post hand shots.

Absolutely gorgeous!

I just had to log in to tell you that your ring is exactly what I would want for myself if I could redo the mounting for my square cushion (that is just a smidge smaller than yours). I have loved MWM since the very first day I ever set my virtual foot onto the PS forums. I know that my DH actually did contact MWM about a setting but since it would be a custom job and would take longer, it didn''t happen and he went with something my local B&M made.

Soooo... now that you''ve so kindly laid the groundwork for a 4-prong petite torchiere I am so so so excited about a reset in the future.

I was a little bummed that it didn''t work out but I didn''t know about it until after the fact. I LOVE my stone, my setting could be made better but the design concept is pretty. Someday I''ll probably change it and until that day I will certainly be keeping your gorgeous ring in the back of my mind!

Wow, congrats! I am so in love with GOG cushions

LtlFirecracker, Diamond*Dana, diamondseeker2006, tannet, and AmberGretchen: Thank you all for your kind words!

acebruin: I have to tell you that I love, love, love your ring-especially the pink halo. I ventured down the asscher road after I saw it.

No problem! I agree with you-I think it would be popular for those of us in the four prong crowd

That is very sweet of you to say. Thank you. I''m glad it worked out the way you wanted with the stone and that you''re happy with your setting. If you decide to do a reset, you can be directly involved in the process!

***Disclaimer*** There is only one teaser hand shot in this post and it is from my cell phone!

The proposal happened earlier this evening!

It was my birthday today, so I was hoping it would happen. I''ll try to tell the story briefly. Well, to start...me being me ruined the surprise. I tend to ask my loved ones a lot of questions...having said that, I figured out today that I don''t like surprises. We went to the Harry Potter exhibit at the Museum of Science in Boston (yes, I''ll admit it...I like Harry Potter!). When you purchase a ticket to the exhibit, you receive a free ticket to the regular exhibition halls that can be redeemed anytime for 6 months. While we were at the Harry Potter exhibit, he was acting strange. That tipped me off to start. Then he kept mentioning going into the exhibit halls after. I kept kind of brushing it off, because I didn''t really want to go in the exhibition halls! (We had plans to meet my mom and step-father for dinner to celebrate my birthday, so I didn''t see the point.) He kept pushing me on it, which he NEVER does. I actually started to get upset...I finally pulled the "it''s my birthday" card (which I would never normally do) and I saw the look of disappointment on his face. That''s when I was pretty sure I had it figured out.

Fast forward to us leaving the exhibit and discussing what was actually going on. He had given the ring box to management who had hidden it for him. They stood guard by it while I was supposed to be looking for a "birthday present". At this point, we decided we didn''t really want to get engaged in that environment (it was noisy, there were kids everywhere, etc.). His heart was in the right place with the plan, but it just wasn''t "us". We ended up driving to a gazebo near the place where we first met. He asked me if I would marry him and I said "YES! But, you didn''t get down on one knee!" then he said, "that''s because I haven''t given you this" and he pulled out the ring. I had my hand out before he even got the ring out of his pocket!!! It was much more us-low key, simple.

And now what you''re really here for...the first hand shot! (I will get some better ones in the sunlight tomorrow.)
