Hi everyone,

This website and all of your comments and suggestions have been wonderful to help me decide on which diamond to buy.

I recently purchased this diamond and would like some input on whether it may be slightly cloudy as it appears in the picture.

Everything else looks fantastic and I paid what I believe is a good price for it.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any concerns with this stone.

Thank you, and Happy New Year!

Mark

I think it looks fine in the video. Sometimes the video setup that JA/BN uses focuses its depth of field on the inclusions and makes everything else look a bit blurry.

It looks excellent to my eyes.

Not sure of the price as I didn’t see it but a very pretty diamond!

Thanks for the votes of confidence. The dimensions are spot on for what should be a wonderful stone, which is what I was looking for.

It looks pretty nice when I'm looking at it, but my untrained eyes probably couldn't tell cloudy from clear whatsoever.

If anyone else wants to offer an opinion, please do so.

Good to hear. This diamond must have been returned or something, because to have a GIA report that old with the ideal proportions the diamond has, it was a no brainer when I saw it. Less than $5K.

That isn't a very old report at all! We've seen some years and years old pop up. The diamond market is very weird and things go in and out of circulation, without being sold.

And, you might be surprised to learn that the market for ideal cut diamonds is SMALLER than the market for poorly cut ones. So a well cut stone sitting around for a while isn't totally bizarro.

Anyway, you made a nice choice! I hope you love it. Is it for an engagement ring?

Cool. I had no idea.

Yes, it'll be for an engagement ring. I thought it would be better to get the stone first and then have both of us search for the perfect ring.

FYI... you're looking for a setting. Diamond (or gem) + setting = ring.

Concurring with everyone else: you found quite a nice diamond!

Thanks everybody, I appreciate the positive comments and honesty. Happy New Year!

Choosing a setting together is a great idea and one we often suggest! Saves heartache later.

One suggestion: If your diamond has not shipped yet you may want to consider having it set in the most inexpensive mount JA offers so that your partner can wear the diamond as soon as you propose. Then they can enjoy wearing it while you plan the forever setting. It might cost you $500, but it will take a few months to get the new forever setting -- or much longer! -- as people usually like to show off their beautiful diamond as son as they get engaged.

Just took a look at JA. Cant believe their cheapest setting (what we mostly consider a presentation-type setting) is now $620 :eek-2:.

Didnt they used to be around $250? I guess I'm aging myself on Pricescope!

Yes, they did used to be around $250 during their sales and when gold was significantly less per ounce.

I had the exact same sticker shock tyty!! And yes we are aging ourselves. I guess $650 is the new $250 but daaaaaang. :lol-2:

I still think it’s worth it to be able to wear it immediately and

Does this have anything to do with $250 when James Allen was James Allen and not Signet? I know gold is high but jeepers.

They had $230-250 starter/presentation settings while under Signet, but before Signet bought Blue Nile.

She loved the diamond! We had it put into a setting and it's absolutely beautiful. No official wedding date yet but she said yes!

Congratulations to you both!
