DD.... One word........MAGNIFICENT!!!!

Thanks so much tigian, swedish bean, princessplease, and round halo lover!

I really love this diamond, speck and all I think

The color and scintillation combo is just phenomenal. Unfortunately for me, I seem to adore the colorless diamonds. ICYICYWHITE!!

D&T I''ll check it out. I can''t find one the exact size I want. Did you just get a random sized one?

I am soooooooooooooo lovin these prongs, YUM!!!
30.gif

Your little booger can be the size of the table for all I care. I''d be too distracted by the these luscious prongs. I want prongs like these for my stone, but with six instead of four.

I like your fakey idea! It''s cheap and it lets you try out the style to see if you like it. Do you like pear shapes at all? One of my personal faves is a round center stone with pear sides.
18.gif
The prongs really are perfection. In real life you can''t see the details of them, except that they are so small and unobtrusive. I requested claw prongs like Lynn B has on the Grace solitaire! When will you be resetting your diamond?

I do love pear sides, but for some reason when I tried a three stone like that on at Tiffs it didn''t look right on my hand. Strange how trying things on can make such a big difference. But the three stone with rounds I loved! And they were G color diamonds if I recall correctly too
31.gif

I love your new diamond, Dreamer! Looks gorgeous on your hand, and you''d be incredibly hard pressed to tell that''s an SI2! Love, love, love the colour of it!

Love the G! I feel like you and I are somewhat diamond upgrade partners. We both have stones around the same size, and we just can''t see ourselves putting out the money to get what we exactly want. Unlike you though, SI2 doesn''t bother me at all. I can''t see any table inclusions in my diamond, just one from the side at less than six inches away, but it doesn''t bother me. If I can find another SI2 as eyeclean as my current diamond I will be very happy. But the J color on the other hand is the sticking point. I would love to go back to at least an I color, but I''m waiting on my next significant upgrade to do that. Would love to have a G someday, but don''t see that happening. My husband says that I''m the only one that can possibly see any color in my stone, and he''s probably right just as your husband is right about the inclusion in your diamond. But there''s this thing in our heads that won''t let us just be entirely happy with our stones. But anyway, enjoy the G for what it is (at least until the next upgrade).

Your new diamond, with the Truth head, is lovely
30.gif

Thanks LTP and Marian!

Coda I am actually looking to stick with a diamond for a good long time, maybe always. It would cost about 10k to get a noticable size difference in the color I want now (G) and for 10k I would rather have a cushion or Octavia in addition to my RB! LOL! Not that I will have that spare money for a long time or anything
3.gif
But I also want to make a 3 stone and get studs and a 5-stone ring. So, ya know, it won't happen any time soon.
19.gif

I wil lsay that going up in color has really scratched my itch for more size. This diamond really pleases my eyes much more than my K did. Just something to think about if you have size fever. For me anyways, color was a key component to my desire for something different. And yup, it isn't about other people, it is about us!
4.gif
The table inclusion is the thing that bugs me. If it was off to the side... not so much. But right there? hmmmm Still, I love this rock!

DD, where are you selling your ring??? you said you traded it in...???

also, do you mind me asking how much (if any) you had to pay in regardst to customs?? i''m in ontario and looking possibly at doing my wedding set upgrade through one of the u.s. online dealers... just wondering if you could give me a ballpark idea of what you had to pay in regards to shipping... i''ve read so many posts and they all seem give different information in regards to canadians and what we''ll pay with fedex or any other carrier.

thanks.

I love it, Dreamer! It looks beautiful!!!

My previous diamond will be available soon I expect from Brain Gavin Diamonds (www.briangavindiamonds.com). It is a 1.167ct K SI1. It is GORGEOUS if you are a fan of warm diamonds and a really amazing cut and size for a very very good price I am sure. Oh, I should mention that I was only able to trade it in because I purchased it from WF when Brian was there and it is one of his ACAs. I do not know of any PS vendors who will sell or accept for trade in diamonds that they did not originally sell to you. The upgrade policies and other customer service perks are one of the reasons to use PS recommended vendors.

I have done this a few times in the last couple years now so this is the gospel

: Customs will charge you GST an PST on the amount of the diamond/ring in Canadian dollars. So if it cosst $5000 US, then convert that to Canadian funds and calculate the taxes and that is what you pay. Full stop. There are no other fees duties or customs. No question with the Canadian dollar so close to par you will get a better deal from an online vendor. Typically the vendor will pay shipping for FedEx to send it to you, FedEx will call you to finalize the customs stuff and collect the taxes from you, then the ring is delivered to your hot little hands!

the ebay ID name is Celebrity_Rings the ring I got was 1.5 center with 2x .65 sidestones it was very pretty but too much for my finger

I hope you can find it

Congratulations on your ICY WHITE DIAMOND, Dreamer! I''m curious to see how the Inclusion Issue will be sorted out. I, too, learned a thing or two about the Color Issue from owning a K. :) Love it in a pendant, but as I prefer e-ring settings with open sides I realize that I wouldn''t go that warm. Sad. My K is an SI2 too but I can''t see the inclusions - probably because at .47ct it''s too small.

As for that play ring? Nordstrom''s.
I think the size does matter a lot. Smaller diamond means more tightly packed facets I think, means easierto hide little beasties.

I looked on NOrdy''s web site and didn''t see anything, and I live in Canada so no visiting in person
15.gif
I will keep looking around.
K, I''m going to start a new thread in the Jewelry forum for you. Hopefully it''s ok for me to post a link to their website.

D&T Found it! Too bad it is yg. Was the quality ok? I mean, for 10 bucks
3.gif

Lurchie Found it too! I like it a lot but it is much larger than my diamonds will be so I don''t know if it will help me
15.gif

Congratulations on your upgrade DD!

What an amazing stone! I''m definitely in the camp of "color is more important than clarity". I certainly don''t want to knock anyone''s preferences because it comes down to individual taste, diamond shape, etc., but I can''t tell you how many times I''ve been asked if my D SI1 pear is a D IF. (and it does have a slightly visible clear crystal inclusion under the table) I think color can really matter and it does make a stone appear brighter, which in turn can make it look larger. And K to G-wow! I went from an I to a G when I had my ring and the difference was amazing. And as for clarity, I doubt anyone will ever notice that tiny dot. After all, a proper SI2 is probably a better clarity than what most people out there are wearing. I really think you did great with this stone and the fact that your husband is happy with it, too, makes it that much better. It''s nice when you''re happy, but when they get excited about a piece of jewelry it''s just too cool.:)

Sorry for writing a book
2.gif
. I meant to post these thoughts when you were deciding and I''m pleased to see you went for it! Looking forward to seeing it''s final home, though it really does look nice as is!

I''ve been out of the loop for a while and I was so glad to see that you got your diamond dd. The color is beautiful, but I''m definitely sensing some hesitance in your posts about keeping it. I think you should enjoy the heck out of it and if the time comes when you have the money for an SI1? Then upgrade again. You never know what''s going to come to inventory at B&L''s. In the meantime.......enjoy!

That''s a gorgeous upgrade, DD! I love the crisp color and those fab prongs.

Your ring is BEAUTIFUL and I adore the profile of the head!

I have to look at it at the right angle, about 4-6 inches from my eye, tilted just so to see the spot.

You will be much happier with that G color than K, I think. The whiter color faces up bigger than the same diameter & cut but warmer color, IMO.

Inclusions in the table: That's what I knew would happen b/c that's the way my SI2 is, lol. If it's in the table zone, it won't hide all the time like it will if it's out in the outer facets. I didn't buy that "table is busier and hides it better" No way, hehe.

Your ring is gorgeous. Don't let the inclusions bother you. I've been wearing mine since October and I don't really worry about the inclusion. Most people won't see it. I actually didn't see mine until I louped it, then I looked and went "AAkk!" But the shock wears off, lol. Enjoy!

Great color, I really do think it borders on an F because I can''t tell the difference between your diamond and mine (which is an F with the same cut). And of course, the BGD has such a great cut. Enjoy it!

It is hard for me to imagine something more colorless for fun it would be interesting to compare to a D. I owned an F in the past and it looked just like this, only not cut as well and a lot smaller.

Girl, we both need to think about our forever settings (well, for a while setting in my case
3.gif
I doubt it will be forever). How to even begin??

Tell me about it. I have no idea what I want to do right now. The indecision that I am famous for is starting!

Gorgeous ring! Love the new diamond and the Truth setting!

I''m sorry, in the ubbub of starting my new job I missed some people who were kind enough to comment on my new ring!

TLH, kay, aprilbaby, and besper, thank you so much!

Siamese kitty
Yes, I also value color now more than I used to. I have found the "sweet spot" for my personal taste and will stick here for all my future diamond purchases.

gemgirl Yes, I am ambivalent about the little bit of pepper still
2.gif
But I have to look for it, whereas the color in my K was in my face all the time. So this compromise is much less difficult for me to live with than the color was. I am very happy with this diamond, though I am keeping an eye out for sure. The best time for a switch would be when I reset my diamond, so we''ll see what happens in tyhe coming months.

HVVS Yes, I do have to look for it. I try not to look too often
2.gif

Yummy! Are there pics with your eternity?

The color difference between the K and your new G is rather dramatic. I love your new stone!

Okay, I am so very late to this thread! But I read the whole thread, and I have to say that I think you made a GREAT decision to go with this stone, Dreamer! The cut is amazing -- really beautiful. No surprise there -- it's a BGD.

And the color is so white. And it does look bigger -- and I don't think it's just the change in the head design. I think it's the whiter color.

And I agree with all the others who said that that the little speck is minor (I can't believe you can see it -- you must have really sharp eyesight!) and it's especially minor if it would cost several grand to get a stone without it. I agree with Siamese Kitty -- your SI2 is much, much cleaner than the majority of the stones I see people wearing.

But, hey, as someone who just went through the whole color-upgrade-clarity-downgrade issue herself, I think I understand your feelings about making a clarity compromise to get the color you want (and I am budget-minded as well). I take comfort in the fact that those of us with good upgrade policies can always trade up in the future should a bucketful of money fall into our laps!

Congratulations, the difference is really amazing, and I'm glad you got the icy color you've wanted for so long

I''m a little late here too, but I wanted to say congrats! I love love love the G!

I happen to have an E stone and I love the icy white of it. I would be willing to go a little warmer in color for something like a pendant or whatnot, but not something on my hand, I tilt it too much and I think the color may irk me a bit too.

I wouldn''t worry about the inclusion at all - just a bit of character of your stone. Reminds you that its natural and one of a kind.
31.gif

oh wow what a beauty! and you take wonderful pictures btw :)

How did I miss this?!?
6.gif

DD, that diamond is absolutely beautiful! I love the setting too.

Wear it in the best of health!

That''s fantastic. How great you got exactly what you want. It looks perfect on your hand.
