Gold Testing on Antique Jewelry

Hi,
What gold testing kits are recommended? do you test antique jewelry with acid? and are the kits on amazon as good as kits on esslinger?
Or is there an electronic deice anyone would recommend?

I have a PuriTest kit from Amazon. I paid about 15.00, and it works great.
Yes, I test antique pieces.
Always rub a hidden area to make a streak on your stone.
Never put the acid directly on a piece.

The kit comes with all the acids you need to test 10, 14, 18, 22k gold plus sterling and platinum.
I have never used any kind of needle regarding acid testing.
You can keep a stamped 10k and 14k gold ring or piece of scrap on hand for comparison until you get the hang of testing metals.
