Hi,
I started looking for an OMC. And guess what I keep changng my mind between OMC, OEC and antique cushion.
I saw many as of today and only one is really singing to my eyes but not that much to my wallet (bit over budget, ;( ).
Found this one also but there is very little info on it and no certification but is fairly within bubget (the one I feel OK spending)
see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdKreCcqdcY from OWD
let me know what you think.
If you have idea please let me know.

It's pretty but you should see it unset and decide and then send it back if it's too yellow for you.

Yummy but I agree more info needed

Advice?

Here's the thing.

A bunch of the more long time and highly experienced PSers started getting interested in old cuts. These are the people who can spot tell the difference between a well cut diamond and a poorly cut one on sight-- who don't need the HCA and their eyes are trained enough to not need an ASET except to confirm what their eyes have already told them. And people who have a number of diamonds themselves and have spent time studying real diamond in jewelers stores, including at PS jewelers.

So these PSers started investigating the trade off between size and color. And just like everything else they do... they researched the heck out of it. Made sure to see a ton of different color stones in different sizes.

And then they decided on what their own color tolerances were. And many of them were surprised to find that they were comfortable trading size for color and fine with getting an M-N-O-P stone.

Then these posters post their finds on PS. And less experience PSers think... well if it is good enough for so-and-so, I'm sure I'll be fine with it.

Well, that's simply not true. Everyone's color tolerances are different, and assuming that yours is the same as some other poster's, regardless of their experience, is a mistake.

And now we're at the point where a lot of those newer posters with warmer colored large stones are starting to admit that the warmth of their stones is bothering them, and they are trading in their hocking M-N-O's for smaller I-J color stones.

So... once again. NO ONE CAN TELL YOU IF YOU SHOULD BY AN O OR NOT. You need to see it, in person, yourself, and live with it for a week or so, before paying to a setting.

I personally find anything lower L is too warm for me. Even in old cuts. Unless it's perfectly cut honking M and set in a large brushed yellow gold bezel (Coati's ring).

So, no I don't think you should just pull the trigger on an O. I don't know now much experience you have with old cuts in warmer color in the O color range.

So my answer is, see it in person. With a good return policy to back you up.

First thank you for your answer.
OK.
I was already looking for old cuts before knowing PS.
My ering is an OMC L or lower (I did not have the stone graded before setting it) but it is small (~0.76) faces up quite white though. I love it, came from my DH great aunt (could not keep the buttercup setting though), I love it way more than the 2 side stones (MB quite white .25ct each).

I have seen M and O stones and love them as long as they are trully yellow and have no grey undertone. Seen a few with JbEG Exceptionnal people btw. The one I love is quite a bit over the budget I feel comfortable spending but "Creamy" is splendid and calling my name... Just my wallet and mind are not yet ready (will they ever be?).It ticked almost all my boxes and 2 weeks later I still think of him...
Also I have seen this one
http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/Jewelry/Rings-Antique-Vintage/306ct-Antique-Cushion-Diamond/31888757_njk3LT#!i=2767078470&k=ZnQnh33
and LOVE the color but just did not tickle me ( and the fact that the setting was way too small for me to size up enough without destroying it).
I stumble upon PS when looking at where to find old cuts diamonds and gave me the hope that I could find one, mine.
I personally dislike the white MB (even well cut I find them not to suit my taste, living with my wonky loopsided warm cushion for 12 years I just love warmth and huge chunky facets and pastels fireballs).
This one is from a trusted vendor (OWD) so I guess I will have to see it in person.
I am trying to have people who know more than me help me as I am a bit weary of buying it/return it.
I am all the way on the other side of the country.
This one might ticked more boxes (hopefully fireball and budget!) and might even fit a setting I already have. :D
The color is not the problem (on the contrary).
Like you said, I NEED to see it.
Gnawing a the bit here.
Will call OWD and talk about this puppy.
